The story is that I had an accident recently, and the polo was written of as it was uneconomical for the insurance to repair so we bought it back and did the repairs ourself which was practically nothing. Now the tax has run out and well we were waiting for the V11 form to appear, but it didn't so I called up the DVLA today and they said I need to get a V.I.C test done before they would allow me to get taxed. Now I was just wondering would the collies and all my other mods such as the 6n2 rears, RH cups and all tje rest affect the test and make it a fail? I doubt it would since as along as the insurance knows it won't affect them right? Or am I wrong just need a bit of reassurance and advice.

A VIC check is more or less exactly what it says, they check the car has been repaired with something better than papier maiche and string, check the numbers match and send you on your way.

Last time I had one they'd done it before I'd finished my tea.

Ah right, I understand, so my mods done won't really affect what they check, as long as it's road worthy and suitable then it's all good!

They do the check in about 60 seconds, its just to make sure the car isnt cut and shut, or whatever else dodgy people do..

The VIC check as has been said is just to make sure its not a cut n shut or another vehicle altogether

It will also be put onto the V5 that it has been VIC checked (plus the date) and that it has been severely damaged and/or substantially repaired .

these vic test are a joke, i wanted to swap the number plate from a uk rallye onto my german imported rallye and i was told that i would have to have the UK car inspected! thing is the car had no front end fitted and was off the road, no tax, mot ect, so i trailered the car 20 odd miles to the tax office, waited an hour or so (oh and they dont take cards so had to sprint to asda at the last minute to get real money)then just a young lad come outside too "inspect" my car. he said "is it a vw?" looked at the rivetted on plate (not the stamped in one) walked round it while it was still on the trailor and that was it! cost me a day, had to borrow a trailer, load of diesel, general grief (car had been stood ages, flat tyres, brakes stuck on)
