Well, I've been on holiday and so has Beetlejuice (the wagon.)

I returned with a flip-flop tan lines and lots of cuts where as Beetlejuice got a bit harder!

When i got home i had to pick Beetlejuice up from the doctors, so into the car we got and drove irrisponsibly (in a Fiat Multipla Diesel) to catch up with this.

We finally got to the doctors where the car was waiting in its wheelchair, it has been told to stay in it until it recovery fully!

I had it done at Saxon Motorsport in kent. I left it on monday and collected it on the Friday a week later, thouroughly impressed with the service and product!

Please dont put the front wings back on, just make little arches that sit just above the wheel and move with it! ...never seen it done before...

Cage design looks to be pretty good. A horizontal bar running behind the dash would've tied the front legs in nicely though.

Personally, I wouldn't be very happy with that standard of welding though - lots of cold lap there. At least the splatter can be cleaned up to improve it visually.

Can we ask how much it cost in the end?

What are you gonna do with the rear arches this time?

breadman: I'm 99% sure I can triangulate into the front struts and not breach the certification of the cage, which will join the front better due to a strut brace......

The final cost was £1204.64 +£60 trailer hire.

I'm going to blend in the Berg arches, then take a mould from the body the replace the quarters with a composite panel. The shape will be similar to the fronts.

Not meaning to sound harsh but if i'd have spent that much on that i really wouldn't be happy with the job. the "design" itself is ok, i'm a bit shocked at how badly the hoop fits the car and the fact the hoop is like that means the bar running round the door frame tapers in at the top and they've just put in a straight bar across the windscreen too

i agree with breadman that that welding could have been nicer, especially on those rear strut plates. i can't help but think you could have had a much better fitting cage for a similar price from elsewhere....

obviously this is just my opinion. i'm not trying to start an argument. i've spent forever designing mine if you're happy with it then thats all that matters. :)

I wasn't overly pleased with the main hoop either, I'm confident it will do the job tho

The only other similar price I could find was Fabricage in Cambridge, although this was £1250 +vat and a hell of a long drive for my mother (she was the one towing...)

The windscreen bar is bent at either end, not completly straight.

All in all i dont think its too bad for the money. If you had gone to somewhere a little more expensive then you might have got a slightly better fit and the welding might have been a little cleaner but you get what you pay for! By the time you have cleaned the welds up a touch and sprayed the interior and fitted seats and harnesses etc i think it will look the nuts and i cant imagine anyone pointing out any bad! Top job you got going on there fella. Will love to see it finished.... J

This looks quality the car is really coming together a bit more now .

I got a similar quote from P&P but it was just to far to go, especially with a hired trailer that had to be back by 9 the next day...

I just left the car with them for a week, I was happy enough doing this after wandering round their garage for a while. They were a completly professional outfit.

I'm sure when its all done it will look better but for that price and the quality of work PERSONALLY i wouldnt be too happy, the rear arch/strut welding is abit poor, well it could be better for sure.

EDIT: the sound deadening on the floors been removed I've just noticed, was htis done with a chisel and white spirit or was it done some other way, as I'm getting awfully fed up of scrubbing and scraping at teh floor to get mine off.

I used a heat gun and a metal filler spreader, it comes off really easily with some heat, I'm not worried about residue because the cars booked in to be media blasted when I'm back from holiday.

I'm not over the moon with the welding, however, it's not going to come apart is it :)

sweeeeet, will have a pop at that then i think, I'm trying to save as much of the std paint underneath as i can, easier prepping that way i think and its the bloody residue I'm struggeling with

If its kinda black and tar-like they turps will remove it a treat!

I'd echo what some are saying about the welding though, the 2nd pic from last looks pretty questionable on the main join. For all that money I would want pretty damn good welding, it doesn't really look like its penetrated that well on some bits which is more important than any splatter or untidyness. I'd have wanted the design to incorporate the front strut mounts and a bar below the dash. But hey if your happy then :)

I'm 99% sure I can extend it to the front struts myself without breaking regs, I'm happy enough with my welding to do it, just gotta double check the paperwork side!..
