Awesome "Derby"

looks quite good!

I´d ad a mk3 Derby Badge, and a OEM MK2 rear Spoiler

nice oeming, so far

you gotta love a good loon

lovely, what do you use to clean it richard?

Good idea giving it a wee run out before the Polo Show Richard...

It's looking very nice mate :thumbsup: ....What are those alloys...?

am in love with this car

love it!

I reckon without the bump strips the gti stripes would work but from what I've read your a purist so keep the bump strips and ditch the stripes lol.

Very clean and I bet not many of these in Scotland, I never see any early polo's where I live.

thanks guys!

its my daily as i sold the £175  skoda run about i had, so if you are near the M8/M74 at peak times highly likely to see the loon darting about.

the pics lie a bit  the paint on her is the worst bit, the roofs 3 colours of faded white, maybe get her polished by an expert see if that helps matters any if not a budget respray would have her looking spot on.

i dont like the black stripes i admit but I'm scared to take them off! same as the arch trims as the paint might be too discoloured.

i just wash it with turtle wax once a week out woolies! polished round the badges to get rid of the green tide marks but thats it so far. shes had 2 owners 1 very careful and 1 who didnt give a feck.

scott the guy who used to own it said the wheels were "rare" but i dont know if thats ebay rare or proper. i took the caps off them and it says cosmic but a internet search turned up nothing. its got some wee 165s stretched over them. I'm in two minds to fit some 15" bbs ras or teardrops on it but all the wheels i have seen have been stupid prices and would still neeed refurbed. (do i owe u money for T shirts x2?)

I fancy some half colour coded bumpers on her, fit some fogs and if i go daft lower it 30. 8-)

Rich, I think 15" RAs would look spot on with a 40mm drop! Get it done! :p

Cheers,

Scott

Looking clean !

Half CC bumpers on a white Mk3 with a 40mm drop sounds sweet to me .

Although my old mk3 had a 40mm drop and i was running 15" RA's

Sweet daily man

Sweet daily man

what size of tyres were u running? as it looked sweet 8-)

What an adorable loon :D

I was running 165/50/15's on my old mk3 on RA's lowerd 40mm

195/45/15's fill the arches better but you get slight scrubbage . 165/50/15's Bridgestone potenza's infact, They are a real good tyre in the wet . Best i have used to be fair.

Get it done mate Cheap as chips and with a quick refurb they will look sweet 8-)

You get a slight stretch on a 6J rim too but you have no worries of the tyre popping off i gave mine some abuse .. lol .

165/50/15's on a 6j gives a slight and not over the top stretch. They look wicked. Id go for the bridgestones over the Nankangs as they look better when on the rim

Piccy of the tyre wheels choice in question .

Would perhaps benefit from a shade of lowerage, but you don't want to be spending too much money if it's a daily. :) I'll be in my loon at the polo show too richard, unfortunately it will probably my seat cordoba tdi as opposed to the mk2. :(

LOON UPDATE:

well after speaking to Gaz, rach and co at the polo show i came home thinking of lots of ideas for the loon but nothing materialised as i needed new glasses, so skint again!

But the loon got some attention today- unintentially

As its my daily i dont get much time to do stuff to it except give it its weekly wash as if i take it to bits i need it back together for the next day :-( . its a solid old barge but the paint needs a good polish which I'm ashammed to say it hasnt recieved yet and i have had it for about 3-4 months!

It was in the local shopping centre car park for literally 5 mins as i never park anything there, came back out and the passengers side mirror was fecked it went 90 deg back when u accelerated and 90 deg forward when u braked so not a good sign  buggers.

So it had non matching mirrors on it anyway so i nicked my hecks mirrors as i had new ones in the cupboard for it, so i did 4 mirror changes today (time consuming and fidilly, but not hard), then decide to look at why the horn didnt work so it got fixed to, then decided to polish round the rear lights as the loon sat for a bit before i got it and their is mold everywhere so i made a start................

P1010002.jpg

ewe

P1010003.jpg

toothbrush polish time

P1010004.jpg

much better

2 wee bits of surface rust got the hammrite krust treatment and will get painted up when i get a suitable colour match for it.

P1010005-1.jpg

top and bottom bumper bolts were tight as feck but lots of WD40 and tighten then loosen and they came off

P1010007.jpg

i then was in the mood for more poloing so stripped my GT back axle down ready to go to the sand blasters as my Gs still running about with a standard one on the back, which is never a good idea.

the new standard mirrors on the heck... well worth the £50! as they move so smooooooth mmmmm. :unibrow:

P1010015.jpg

P1010014-1.jpg

and finally fitted the G optional extra wheel, maybe do the clocks next!

P1010016.jpg

so the hecks getting new wheels to clear its brakes so the general pass on recycling theme will continue, think the "cosmics" will be for sale soon and the hecks enzo cups on the loon soon. so it will either look ok or pants need to wait and see.

PS:one of my back lights has a wee mark :paranoid: i noticed so if anyones got a drivers side one cheep let me know?
