i'd be stuck choosing between a Leon Cupra K1 and an Astra VXR in white, think Seat for build quality possibly

no better car on the market than this for your money imo. especially when in a few years youll get one for half the price. looks great in white. yellow fl R27 is the tits but you can upgrade any clio sport to its spec for around 1500 which includes suspension upgrades. plus you don't HAVE to have the stickers.

hate vauxhalls of today..they never seem to have there own designs but rather pick bits and bobs from other makes and bodge together their own...or make them really chavvy.

Man, I really like those new sporty Clios, saw one the other day, in bright blue with white wheels, came zooming past me, it looked wicked and disappeared off into the distance as seriously impressive pace

Really not a fan of the Vauxhalls either, whats with the shitty chrome strip bit on all the bootlids? would utterly love one of the new Megane R26R over any of the Vauxhall stuff

Both nice cars, true what you say about the Seat though. Only bad thing is Seat deppreciation FTL :(

the astra still looks shit but i do like the clio lol

Seconded, the Megane R26R beat that ring vauxhall's time by a good way!

id be going for that over most hot hatches atm, including the golf GTIs by a long shot.

I couldn't give a crap whether it's in fashion or not. Fashion is for posers

fashion moves things forward in terms of different new trends

style is a whole different thing, people who buy these cars think they are buying style in your case ' posers '

you cannot acquire style i think your born with it.

without fashion we wouldnt be anywhere

The F1 megane aint really that fast either, I was glued to one's bumper the other day :)

What were you in just out of interest those F1 meganes have 230hp and a limited slip diff very very capable round corners unless the driver was a compete plank.

I totally agree, and come 2 years time once the insurance allows, I can see myself picking one of these up for about 6k :-D

White and black and a new exhaust for over a grand more, great.

VXR's, ST's.. i know they're fast etc but there's just nothing special about them, way to poser-ish.

You're having a laugh? Nothing special? 6.5 seconds to 60 mph and over 150mph top speed plus you can fit all your shopping in and do the daily commute easily?! I struggle to think of VAG cars that equal these cars practicality and fun.

S4, RS4, S6, RS6, S8, R8, S3, R32, Passat R36, i could go on.

for the price of one of these i'll take a used mk4 r32 an a eip turbo kit please.

stick your 08 plate up your arse.

i followed one of those astras the other day, the nurberg...... special, when he put his foot down made a sweeet ass noise!! spits and pops!!!!!

i see 1 every day, theres a bloke and woman who drive the same 1. the bloke givs it some beans tbf lol

A thank you..

I did say 'i know they're fast'...

Its the fact of the people that buy them, they are, despite performance figures, poser-mobiles.

What does an £18,000 bright orange/yellow french car offer that other cars cant?

Better: Focus RS, Civic Type-R, Golf R32, any Impreza, Escort Cossie....

£6,000? Jesus that is some depreciation, aren't they £18,000 new?

Fiesta ST185:

I want one of these really badly... 185bhp, KW coilovers + Ford chassis, Recaro seats and a few other touches....it's like a pre-modified car but with the added bonus that it has been properly developed by people who know what they are doing.

Astra VXR Nurburg:

The ATS wheels are apparently a little lighter than standard and the Remus exhaust does make quite a racket. It does come across as being such a marketing led exercise though rather than something that is genuinely worth the extra money. I've never really liked anything in the VXR range...at least not on first impressions.

Anything breathed on by Renault Sport at the moment is suppose to make for a great car. The Clio 197 looks absolutely fantastic and at just under 16k I'd be happy to stump up for one. I've heard SO much about the R26 Megane being utterly rapid across country...local Porsche owner reckoned it was one of the fastest point to point cars he'd ever driven...

The R26.R is coming out soon....

Toyo 888's, carbon bonnet, titanium exhaust, poly-carb. windows and a roll cage all on the equipment/options list...serious bit of kit me thinks!

Saw that Leon with the center exit on the M6 today, wasn't sure what it was but it looked really good! Only thing I don't like is the exhaust...touch out of place me thinks.

£6,000? Jesus that is some depreciation, aren't they £18,000 new?

The 172/182 are pretty cheap to buy now but only because they are getting old + they were a bit cheaper than the 197 to buy in the first place. Will be a good while before 197's are selling for 6k I'd think.

Just wait till you see the shirts mouse wears...then you'll understand why he doesn't do fashion

Well you can pick up 06 plates for 10k now. given 2 more years I think they'd be closer to 6k :-)

You might be onto something actually...I feel gutted for the original buyers in that case! Looked on What Car at their depreciation index and the graph is pretty steep :?

How about the new Abarth Punto. Was speaking to a road tester the other day and they said it was spot on...155bhp or 180bhp if you spec. it up with the Esseesse pack. Black sill trims make it look like a Mk3 Polo to me and thus super super cool...white wheels work too on the Esseesse. The new Abarth 500 is pretty cool too...just a bit...gayer?

that does look quite funky, but funky is gay lol

that does look quite funky, but funky is gay lol

Funky is good, bland is bad

The new Fiats and Alfas stand out so much compared to all the other bland boxes you see on the road

for example at the motorshow, Alfa stand had not one single bad looking car on it, then you go over and look at the new Seat Ibiza, it looks like some shitty korean clone car, fucking terrible!

i saw one of these nurburg astras today hence venturing into this thread

it looked shweeeeeet

tbh, VAG are boring fuckers when it comes to hot hatches really imo

and any new astra I've been in feels as good/if not better than any golf equivalent

however I've never had an oppurunity to rag either properly on my own so could be completly different animals out of the public eye :ninja:

Top gear said "it has stripes on it, and a different exhaust, it might as well be called the Astra Chelmsford edition"

:)

They said that?

Bastards, 8th best place to live in the whole of the UK I'll have you know

and no one really has stripes in Chelmsford any more, its mainly primer grey
