Astra VXR Nurburgring edition

Featured Replies

I really don't see why people bring up track times when talking about reasons for buying a car.

What the fuck does a laptime on a track have todo with anything he will likely encounter in the real world.

This VXR is not a bad car, its not the one I would choose, but with any of the current crop of hothatches you can't really go wong.

It will give you just as many thrills as a M3 or similar older car, but without the maintenance costs and is still very practical.

Also, are you guys fucking serious bringing up deltas and quattros in this discussion?

..because a lap time is a way a to quantify a cars performance beyond the usual 0-60mph, BHP and weight etc. Doesn't really matter in the real world...but people need to make a decisions based on something.

One of the main reasons to buy a Delta would be speed..it's a fast car...or at least it was...

Fair enough,

I tend to go for a car that makes me feel good, weather that be because its fast, good looking or whatever floats your boat.

0.07 seconds faster round an obscure track doesnt really do it for me :D

What would sway me is the same as tav 3 year warranty and the running costs are minimal.

same here, after having charged my car and keeping it running, it would have been much easier to buy somthing like an Astra SRi or Corsa VXR, with the years free insurance and warranty etc and keep it running. Vauxhalls have improved greatly over the past 3/4 years. And now for me it's as much about comfort as it is go. The Vauxhalls get my vote, and do Ford Focus RSs, and The Seat Range, i wouldnt be as inclined to buy french because the build quality isnt quite like the Vauxhall or Seats. they're still good cars though

all things to all people

yeah wots rong with bringin up delta's n quattro's? for that amount of money you would pay for a corsa vxr, fiesta st185 there are a lot better other cars you could have and a delta is an icon and looks a million times better imo. who cares its a second or so slower, drive on the roads like you would on a track and you wouldnt have any car for long.

Too true.

Buying one of the new cars is the easy way out! Its all about buying an 80's icon, combatting rust, running costs, and constant maintenance.

Reliability is over-rated

yes i would definately get a vxr

^^ That sounds incredible!

Sounds like a drive-by! I want that in my life!
