I used to have a polo and posted on here a few times, now drive a passat estate 2.0 16v. Anyway I go to this meet every month and tske loads of photos and then post them on the dub forums I use. Last night there were quite a few polos and it reminded me you lot might be interested to see these in case any of them are yours etc.

did you use a flash, they came out really nice, what was the light like when you took them?

nice work on the lighting front man, wjay flash you using? i was meant to go but my mate convinced me going to cowes for cowes week and getting drunk was the better idea which turned out to be a good crack!

Amazing photography skillz

Cheers guys, I only started photography as a hobby in January and I'm now hooked. If you thought Dubs were an expensive past time, think again!

In answer to your questions I use a Canon 400D DSLR with the kit lens, a UV filter and the flash is a Sigma 530 DG Super. I set the flash up on a tripod and using some awesome £20 radio triggers allows me to position the flash wherever I want to get good shadows and intersting light angles. On the night I dialled the Apature down to darken the scene and then set the flash to half power. THis gives the lovely dark sky and background and the flash picks out the car. For some of them the flash is fitted with a "snoot" which is essentially designed to reduce the width of the flash beam to avoid lighting the ground etc. For this I used a Kellogs Variety Frosties box, much cheapeness. More practice required though as there is too much light on the ground in some of the shots.

As for Photoshop all I did in there was sharpen them slightly as digital cameras are a little soft, added the border and added the vignetting (Darkened corners).

Anyway cheers again for your comments, they keep me motivated to learn more and keep experimenting with stuff.

Well I'm located in Basingstoke in North Hampshire so if you're local photoshoots are no problem. I'd charge about £50 for a CD of images in Mahoooosive size. If you live further away I'd stil happily do it but would have to add on my travel expenses (Which would be cost cause I'm not a greedy fellow).

Tractorboy: Yeah I go to No-Rice most months, as long as it's not hammering it down I'll be there next wednesday.

Oh yeah! It's not too well at the moment and it needs lots of TLC before it's MOT in 2 weeks time , Still it only cost me £450 so it's not all bad, I've had MOT's on Golfs cost more than that.
