mk3 Splitter decision

Featured Replies

i've got several splitters in my shed such as , golf mk2 gti, megane(with the holes) polo 16v, vxr, an focus.

but I'm not sure on most.... the golf gti one for me looks amazing! but it actually sits on the ground to stay up.. :(

I'm handy with a heat gun at the moment so most things are fitting..

any of you's got some splitters to show me ? cheers :)

Personally I think splitters on a mk3 look tacky and horrible. I think when its a car like D 9OLO which is heavily modified with a subtle splitter it can get away with it, but on something as standard looking as yours I think it will just look like halfordsesque stick on tat.

polo g40 with golf gti splitter

theres my red polo with the golf one on it.. i like it but its massive and touches ground at all times

Look pretty ugly in my opinion. Just looks like its been stuck on for the sake of modifying it.

lol, well we all have our opinions.. i want mine to look especially low, and the car isn't going any low..

it rubs endlessly and scraps on most bumps and divits in road..

but a splitter would bring that high bumper down a little..

Mk3 Golf splitters with the bottom lips cut off them can look nice. Fairly small and follow the shape well when adapted to fit.

the bottom lip :S ?

like cuttin it up to the fog light holes or something ?

Splitters = pish. Makes the car look nose heavy from side on as there is no continuation of the line along the sill or across the back bumper. You might make it look a little better from one angle...but you'll ruin it from others.

Passat B3? is what I've got on mine, i likes it

Small bumpered 16v Mk2 GTIs suffer from an oversized splitter and then nothing down the side/at the rear. Does look pretty poop IMO!

mk2 golf cl on mine

so do mk1s with the big duck bill spoiler. just trends though. at the moment its just not cool to have splitters. I'm not cool so dont care!

splitters+mk3s= uber fail

why are they....mine looks good

makes it look lower and fatter....

just dont suite the lines as the bumpers to rounded, pussys way of getting low

jokes :ninja:

haha

makes it look lower but technically isn't.

FAIL

why is that such a bad thing?

Not necesarily bad, but cheating way of looking low IMO

have to agree, if your going to do it, do it properly

i just put a splitter off some sort of seat on mine, it took alot of cutting and stuff but people like it so far and it does look good from the front but I'm in two minds wether to take it off because it looks utter crap from the side, its like someone put the wrong bumper on lol.

i say, try it, if you like it keep it, if you dont then just take it off.

and i fitted mine because i wanted to make my car look better, it had nothing to do with it been low, i like to mod my car, dont most people on here?

james.

am down 60mm all round....splitter makes it look lower...to a point and keeps practicality..

Do what you like TeZ, if you like it and you want one, do it

You don't need anyone else's approval, unless you are trying to fit in somewhere on what's accepted and what's not :?

I have mixed views on it

Neil, yours looks good

The beauty of the oldskool is you can do almost anything and still pull it off and at the end of the day I don't think neil gives a fook whether you think it's a fail or not

:)

hit the nail on the head
