mk3 Splitter decision

Featured Replies

Wheres the rules to say I can't share my own oppinion now then? If your going to go for the wanabe low look with a mahoosive splitter than that's your choice but i'd rather have it decked on a small splitter and it looking blatently obviously from the sills it's decked or not at all to be honest

am not argueing, just making a point.....its not mahoosive. mk3's can never be decked from the sills...cos the sills arnt the lowest point..droops down rite bad in the middle

No one said you couldn't share your opinion and no one's arguing :?

Your opinion was noted and crossed out with epic fail I do believe :D

It's a fucking tidy car man, open your eyes :smirk:

I never said the car wasn't nice so if you can find somewhere that points out i've slated the look of the car apart from the fact of a big splitter then please show me, I just said i don't agree with the add a big splitter to disguise the floor gap look which i think that represents.

It's not about being on the deck for me, My car's far too high for alot of peoples likes on here, but its practical for me and I'm not going to be in denial about it or try to pretend it's slammed.

I'm not arguing to either of you I'm clearly stating what I think, do what you want it's your car at the end of the day.

Anyways, an example of a pimp mk3

my splitter isnt actually the lowest part of the car

4 branch hangs low, but middle is lower

Yeah, well i hit 3 cats eyes in a row last week. Broke one of the exhaust welds.

shit the bed.....if mine did that...i wouldnt get to work on the motorway! lol

Rawr!

The topic continues....

9olo's car pulls off a splitter well

thats low and made look lower by the splitter haha

the middle part of mk3s are stupidly low thanks to that cat guard thing

That has come in use! wouldnt want my new flexi getting damaged.

true true

I've got a 6n splitter on my mk3, bodged on though, i quite like it :)

looks pretty sick jimmy

thanks very much :) it takes quite a beating but is held on by about 20 screws so it holds on :D

Haha yeah :]

I think my splitter is the only thing that's not snapped in half after monday.

I'll have to see if I can fit mine to my new bumper :]

mad, what happened ?

i used to have a clio splitter for the back (which would have been good on the front as its made of rubber) but didnt like it so i got another 6n one, but it just looked wierd so i thought id stick to just having one on the front.

I've got all of mine from pease pottage scrapyard, clio and 6n one at the same time £5, 6n splitter on its own 2nd time..still £5 :(

ah, I've just read the thread from you are profile, that sucks man, u gona do anything about it as there was oil all over the road ?

I've removed that CAT protector thing, it was constantly gettint twatted by my exhaust, (not any more due to g40 full decatted zorstage tho)

my mk3 saloon is dropped 80/70 and i still put the splitter on an catches everything, but i think it looks oh so cool!

i tried polo 16v.. looks suttle.. has anyone wacked on a vr6 one before? am gonna go on the hunt...

my car is down 80 all round on kw's. its low.. no one deny's that i just want that mean stance from the front.

good too see everyone has opinions tho. i aint gonna argue back.. ill see what it looks like.. look bents then comes off

there will always be a problem with puttin splitters on mk3 and that is...they wernt ment to be there! really. if u look at golf mk2 or mk3 bumbers they are cut down in hight. so that when the splitter goes on of doesnt look miles lower then the rest of the car. id say the mk3 bumper would have to be cut off around the bottom of the foglight recces for a slpitter to work..only if would look complete cack!

as said befor, if u put a splitter on the front, u have to balance it out with side skirts and rear splitters and on a small mk3 body they look shit. :-D

Depends with splitters ino really some cars can pull it off .

I like the splitters on Neilsonwheels car . I also like the one on Karl_ClCoupes car too .

Although i do take the piss outa him for his fake lowness and his hardcore splitter chafeage

Here is a piccy of the car in question ..

this is why splitters on mk3's look proper rubbish in my opinion. hope you don't mind using your photo Neil but it was best for the job of explaining.

Car companies like lines to flow, thats how they design them.

now the red line is the ultimate fail line going nowhere and the blue lines indicate the sucess of the original profile straight off the bumper and almost perfectly onto the sills..

i used to have a splitter like yours Neil until one day i thought 'shit that looks cack'...and took it off.
