hey, I've heard the phrase 'get your standard stelies banded' a few times.

I'm guessing it mean getting standard wheels made wider? am i right? and how and where do you get it done? and how much?

I got a brand new set of 7x13" Alleycats with tyres fitted for £350, I'm kinda glad i paid the extra £40 rather than widening my shitty standard steels, in which case i'd have to spend a couple hundred on new tyres anyway, or stretch uber shit 145's over them.

you wont get them for 350 from a retailer tbh.

if you want brand spankin alloys with tyres itl be around 500-600 for decent ones

banded steels is cheaper but you have to find the steels first, around 50 quid then tyres on top so thats 200 if you want stretch

do the math and it works out 500+

Banding is when everything to the front of the spot welds on the wheel is cut off, a metal band is fabricated and welded on, and then the outer is welded back on again.

Heres one I did earlier:

You can clearly see where the band is added.

And here's my Polo with banded Coupe S steels (now sold).
