So aye, took a set of tyres 195/45/14s to be fitted to my 8Js, and the bloke i spoke to looked at them all confused looking and went inside to 'figure out a price'...

Anyway he fitted 'em while i waited, then started lecturing me on how my 'tyres were too small for teh rim you know pal, didnt you know?' (as if I'm a dumbass) 'Thats strictly illegal you know...'

Then why are you fitting them if you think that pal...

Then the owner comes out while hes dressing up one of my banded steels, and the bloke doing it mutters 'Hes fucking welded his wheels up to make them wider, never seen owt as dodgy.'

'Jesus Christ, you see allsorts running round dont you, pfff!'

Then this owner dude strolls over and says to me, as if i hadnt heard him talking to his mate, 'what the bloodyhell are them wheels mate, did you do em?'

Told him no did i fook, they were done by professional engineers at a proper set-up.

He didnt say owt, he just strolled round my car eyeing it up as if it were some chav piece of crap. DICK.

Anyway, it ended up taking them a whole hour to fit me two tyres, which seemed a lot of inconvenient effort for them. They were probably pissed of cos they couldnt fit their jack under! :-D

Everyone needs a burna in there life. Tyre master!

165/50 on an 8 in one go

What is it that makes all mechanics a bunch of fucking tossers? (with the odd exception of course)

Just dont give them the business

^^ they assume automaticly that we know jack shit about the cars we drive

Thats a bit harsh. I've met loads of canny mechanics.

Its about half and half with me

But i rarely take my car to a garage anyway, i try fix the problem myself  more fun :-)

Sound like wankers, but you do get that now and again, just take your business elsewhere in the future.

I got my local Kwik-Fit to fit my rear camber shims the other sunday, scorching day and they'd never done them before, but were sound about it...

£30 cash in hand style, they also fitted me a new manifold-downpipe gasket and replaced 2 missing studs (Tyremaster suck) and topped up my coolant and oil.

Didnt even complain about taking 10 minutes to get on and off the ramp

Sounds like dickheads to me.

Place on the team valley put 195 onto a 8J for me, did all 4 and fitted them to the car during my 30 min break and I was back at work on time.

yeah most mechanics are rubbish but some are actually unbelievably sound lol,

also when i went to to a tyrefitters to get my tyres fitted, the guy literally took 10 mins to fit and balance all 4 wheels without damaging any (mainly cos i warned him lol) and he was sound as and even better he only charged me 20 total which was quite good lol

You live and learn, some are sound, some are dicks.

Kam, wherrreeee did you get 165/50's???

would of told them fuck off made them fit the tyres paid for the tyres not hte labour

well since 99% of people who modify a car haven't even got a tinkers its no surprise.

And out of that 1% that do have the foggiest most think a forum is gospel.

Side Mount Bucket Seats Screwed through a rusty floor

Cut springs to the point they are just rattling around as the struts have bottomed out

Rounding off wheel bolts fitting 4x100 wheels to a Fiat

These have all been sent for MOT by 'modified car owners'

i have found a tyre fitter that is legend! lol

my 165/40's went on a 7 easier than my 195/40's did on an 8 lol

took him about 10 mins to do 4 tyres lol

i dont go to small garages after bad experiances from idiots, i just get my mate to do it with me (he's a mechanic) makes life easier with less dickheads around :)

my mate fiited my tyres 185/45/15s on an 8j, didn't dmage them and it was free, its not what you know...

edit: spelling

Well there are plenty idiots who may do the above, but i certainly wouldnt say 99%! Many may not be experts, but most of us do have 'a clue'!

But its not up to a garage to patronise people even if they do look like they haven't the foggiest. They should do the job the customer has asked them to do, no questions asked.

I have worked in the motor trade for nye on 10 years and I have heard some shite, hell I've done shite, and that my freind is a good lump of shite!

I mean they sound like the sort of garage that would replace your brake pads and then tell you that you need shockers and half an exhaust, yeah mate f~#k off I do!

I want to send a BIG UP MASSIVE RESPEK to all the two-bit, bodge-it and scarper, back alley mechanics that give us all something to laugh at.

The blokes are wankers, but in some way they are Legends!

Rock on

what a load of gimps :S

everyone seems to love my bandies, and thanks again tom for the pic's and advice when i was looking into them, much appriciated.

iv found a local place who can get me on there service ramps n everything, had it tracked there today I'm about 115mm down on 13" rims. they had a bit of trouble but tbh i kinda think they liked it, something different for them for a change. one of them came out all excited just to tell me they had got it on lol.

mechanics like this are legends, do a good job and enjoy it whilst they do it, even if it is a little bit more extra work getting a jack under a decked car, no moaning, just pure passion
