MIDNIGHT CRUISE: Bank Holiday

Featured Replies

As everyone knows the midnight cruise has been very long awaited, too many people begging me to get it going lol. Anyway, its here now and organisation is underway. The last cruise was a major success with about 80 cars in attendance. Not many people understood what a 'convoy' is and started racing to the finish last time so hopefully it doesn't happen again.

The cruise will take place bank holiday Sunday night but technically the date falls on the Monday! Hopefully most of us will be free and not working on the Monday so you should have time to recuperate! Furthermore the streets of London should be very quiet. The event should take about 3hrs of our time so the trip to make the convoy would be worth your while.

Anyway, the convoy will start off at Ace Cafe and then lead into the city passing famous landmarks along the way. We aim to stop off at check points to let straddlers catch up. Please remember that this is a convoy where we all drive through trying to stay together instead of speeding around thinking its a race to the finish! If we did that we'd only attract attention to ourselves or even worse accidents could happen.

We're still looking for people who know the city well and can make a few test runs before the night to act as marshalls. Marshalls will drive amongst every 5-10 cars so everyone behind can follow incase the convoy seperates. So if you can be of assistance and sure you'll be free for the convoy then get in touch with 'vwdevient'- Jon. As I learnt from previous experience, its no point giving everyone the final destination in order to stop all the racing around. So no one apart from the organisers will know of this and the marshalls will be given certain details on the night.

so here's the details and a few points to consider;

START ADDRESS:

Ace Cafe London

Ace Corner

North Circular Road

Stonebridge

London

NW10 7UD

DATE: 24th Sunday night. (Technically 25th August Bank Holiday Monday)

TIME: 11pm (convoy starts after midnight)

  • If you wanna bun etc then do so away from Ace cafe's premises before the convoy starts.
  • Get there on time, fuelled and ready to leave.
  • Do not race around acting like a wrist exerciser, its a convoy not the gumball rally!
If i've forgot to include anything then there will be edittions made later on so check this post before the event.

Keep your diaries empty all, regards.

Good idea and all about the racing bit and not telling anyone the final destination, but personally I would like to know the end of the route, so I know in advance how to get home?

This will be mental. Went to the last one from near excel to Ace Cafe. Good thinking on the marshalling idea. I got totally lost and ended up hoping to god that the dub in front was going the same way that I was!

Polo Dude half the fun is in the convoy, atmosphere, camaraderie, and the other half, is working out where you're going. I can see it would be harder for you to find your way home than it would for me. I just have to find a sign with a big M written on it that will inevitably lead to the M25 then in due course, the M4. Easy.

this sounds pretty sick hopefully my car is fixed before then

See you there 8-)

Defo sick, it was meant to be a quarterly event taking place every 3/4 months but other things got in my way of organising the event.

Don't worry Polo_Dude it'll end in East London in a very quiet place!

i should be there again

lets actually get a convoy going this time!

i'll be there, aslong as the car is running

Yep, working on experience I can say we need marshalls for this one, especially cos it goes through so many traffic lights and streets instead or carriageways. HOWEVER, theres not much we can do if people drive past like loonies racing around. Its funny cos most from dub scene would say we're the opposite and then put their own foot down on the right-side pedal!!!!!!!!!

Will be there.

will try n be there, got a HEAVY weekend of drum n bass events and carnival to get through first though

We'll be making our own carnival or engine notes through the city 8-)

I'm up for this last time was jokes but yeh got pissed off that people started racing and zoomed off splitting up the convoy, just need to get car sorted for its MOT (needs a new shock absorber and 2 new rubber mounts to pass) then its all systems go...And Noz this time i'm bringing a sat nav incase we got lost lolz

Sweet Ash. A satnav might not work if we're going through many landmarks instead of just A-B, which you could've used the satnav for. Hopefully we get enough marshalls for the amount of people we'd expect to turn up this time.

Ok guys, I need help with marshalling so if anyones available to make a run or 2 to familiarise ourselves and work out stop off points then send us a pm.

Unless we get the organisation done properly with marshalls, we'll just get a repeat of last time :(

I'm now in, anybody up for a convoy from Guildford again?

Think ill be coming to this, try get some MK people to come aswell.

  • Author

Plenty of people coming from around midlands etc so it shouldn't be too hard to get a convoy down to London. Bring as many dubbers as you can, should be a great night.

ill be there making my way from windsor to ace

should be there in my m8s G6LFY
