Cone filter no!

Panel filter yes if you can justify the extra tenner or whatever they are over the standard air filter

I've looked on the net and i have to get a circular one that just replaces my old 1, but still sits in the standard box, could i not get a different one to this

a replacemtn filter in the standard box wont do jackshit.

go for a carbon airbox if you wanna make some extra power.

Cheers, I'm just browsing the net for some parts now

dont get a bmc carbon airbox go for a car builder solutions or demon tweeks one.

i had a 1lt polo all i used was an old k & n off ma old nova sr takes a lil modifyin like but it made mine loads faster as it was to big lol all i did was with a rasp or sanding drum on a drill i made the hole bigger so it would fit over the throttle body and just tie rapped it on need if people say it will burn through it stop talkin shit mine stayed on for two years need never burned through the tie rap that filter is now on ma polo gt need it flys mate i think the filter is only £30 wel worth doin o yer i still hav the back plate for the filter so if u want to do it ill post u it for nothin as i dont need it no more

gaz

I dont think they do anything, and i dont care for the sound they make really

So dont bother IMO ahaha

An interesting one for you is that my 1.0 Mk3 Polo made 4 bhp more WITHOUT the air filter in than with it in, on the same rolling road.

That was with a new standard filter. So they ARE restrictive.

You would get all the crap in your engine thou without one? should have seen what it was like with a k&n or something like that

panel filters are worth it IMO

unless it is a shielded cone filter, all an induction kit will do is draw in hot engine bay air

i have a mushroom filter that goes just behind the front grill. no sucking in hot air but in heavy rain it might be an issue (i haven't got any problems though)

here's a pic of my older setup with a cone filter

btw speaking of induction, do you know this?

Performance-Force-Flow-Turbine-Fuel-Save

it's supposed to be fitted in the intake pipes an act as a sort of forced induction( sort of...)

I ran my old cl without an air filter on a very cold morning and there was quite a difference lol

I would go for the enclosed induction kits, keeps the hot air out and you still get enough air in. As for those fans that go in your air pipes, dont bother. You might have a slightly better throttle response at low low low speeds but at above 60mph they become a restriction!

acg has a K+N i think and i like the noise :)

i personally have one of those pipercross viper induction things which is supposed to really help out but i dont know.

How would i go about instaling a cone filter, would it go on an n reg mk4 though

Soz mate lol

best to use your standard air box and get a sports panel filter replacement and just attack a cold air feed. It is a proper sealed unit designed for your engine. Not all after market 'sports' parts are better than standard

Does seem to good 2 b true, could it not mess up you are car if the engine thinks its always cold???

Does seem to good 2 b true, could it not mess up you are car if the engine thinks its always cold???

maybe not messing up but it will certainly affect performance

cars run better in colder(cooler is a more appropriate word) weather because air is denser. when air is denser the ecu injects more fuel to keep the good fuel/air ratio. forcing the engine to think air is cold will simply make the ecu inject more fuel and mess up the mix and thus reduce performance. but to be honest i even doubt it does what it says. sounds like those magnets they sell to put on fuel lines to "realign fuel molecules".

Never heard of those magnets, the sht thy try n sel people lol

if its a 1lt single point injection lift the bonet like i did with the k& n off ma nova sr keeps cold air flowing over the engine colling it and gettin plenty of cold air to the filter take out the bolt closest to the windscreen need leave it out put a piece of wood under at the hight u want i did mine an inch need tighten the two bolts left in 1 on each side will pass mot like that need no worrie of the bonet flyin open as it opens the other way unless you are catch is fucked lol no shit this realy works i beat some right cars that wer suposed to be fast ie saxo vtr's lol o need ma mates 1.8lt toyota accent lol u should of sin his face gettin wuped by a 1lt

You fitted an induction kit to a 1.0l polo and it made it faster than a saxo VTR?

Something just isn't right there :?
