I managed to get an nearly new cone filter from a mate of mine at a scrap yard (Lucky cuz i was guna go n buy 1 2 day) n for a fiver n its near enuf new i think i got a bargain lol. So i couldnt b arsed with fukn about so simply just took the filter out of my old box cut the part of the tubing off n clampd the cone filter on, it seems more responsive which is all i wantd realy. Is this an ok way of doing it, is there any chance of it causing any problems being done this way?

should be fine really, just make sure there is plenty of cold air to the filter. Could benifit from a heat shield really. Does your set up look anything like this??

this is probably the best setup you can get with a K&N type cone filter...

oh btw I'm planiing on using a BMC CDA(closed induction) with twin cold air feeds. Try and create a basic RAM air effect. I'm also gettin a custom ECU remap soon apparently it will give me more boost when the remap is done!

i bought a k&n 57i for my 1 litre and it wouldnt fit

Yeah pretty much the same except mines got the big air filter box still on just with the inside filter removed.

what, so your car has NO airfilter?

what, so your car has NO airfilter?

if so... BAD idea! could get all kinda shite in your engine.

K & Ns r good.. alot of people say there r worth it & need less care as you can just clean & re-oil them instead of buying a new filter...

some mechanics say forced air induction kits in the long run can damage your engine as they force too much air in the engine.. and really wudnt advise NO air filter... i gota K & N atm... i gota 1.6 ordered the wrong 1 at first (rectangular panel)... got it for sale if ne1 wants it... as i just got the right 1 for mine... n VTRs are quite quik!

look mate read the thread properly first its off a nova 1.3sr they arnt injection mate so how would it be an induction kit it was just a simple panel type filter that fits on top of the carb need surley u no that wen u put bonet lifters on it allows cold air to flow strait accross the top of the engine i can giv u my mates number who owns that saxo vtr if u dont beleive me need ask him urself this is a pik of that filter fitted to my polo gt

Its not that you cant spell, you just use chav text words :-D

Yeah your spelling is actually alright its just the text slang, its not a dig at you its just much easier to understand people when they type properly.

Isnt the cone filter stoping shit getin in???

My setup is similar to the 1 pictured but just got the cone filter attached to the original tubing from the old airbox, do u get what i mean. I have put the oldair filter bk in th box now anyway lol

if you have the cone filter on the end then yeah thats fine. I thought you were just having cold air feed directly to the airbox with no filter! lol

you can take the oval shaped filter out of the airbox. You dont need both.

wondering if sum1 had any ideas on this...

i recently fitted a k&n filter however after fitting it, it seems that there is a pipe (assuming its the exhaust manifold pipe) left exposed. is this ok to be left like this? or can i fit a hose in place and lead this out to vent. it doesnt say anything in the k&n install instructions RE this..

heres a pic of what i'm talking about:
