I've never paid so much for number plate lights

Featured Replies

just a little rant.

car went in for mot at my local kwik fit, the guys are well alright down there and is the only place that can get me up on the ramps.

But my car failed due to the rear number plate lights not lighting up enough so they replaced them as was like thats 7.99 for two bulbs. I was so shocked! i paid as it had all been processed. But yeah i was not expecting those prices for two bulbs!

In my shop for number plate lights its never more than 2.29 for a pair, they raped you.....

Plus thats a retail shop so cost is like 20p really for two bulbs, but I suppose once they're in theres not much you can do except never go back there again and check all you lights pre mot!

they're obvioulsy not as alright as you thought then mate.

42p per bulb from me

got mine replaced for free when i took it for its mot

Does that include labour?

When I used to work at Audi it used to cost like £45 for number plates to be changed or wiper blades due to labour charges!

BMW charge that as well. Its a joke! But people like my mother who don't know anything further than filling it up with diesel and driving it will pay that.

Crime is crime.

I'm sure you'd not be best pleased if someone just helped themselves to something off your car.

I got mine free from the MOT garage.

And no I didn't steal them. He said that's all its failing on, gave me the bulb n told me to fit it haha. sorted!

I dont mind taking smaller bits from scrappers, usually let you have smaller stuff free if your getting something bigger from there haha

8 pound is a small price to pay if it means getting your car road legal

Had to get my car MOT'd on tuesday, neither of my number plate lights worked and I didn't have time to do so I asked the garage to do it for me before it went through. They didn't charge me, only charged me for the MOT, and yes, the lights are now working.

I'm suprised they havnt just done the bulbs for free, or maybe cost (like a quid!) it not like the guy doing the mot is gonna see any extra cash for charging you! rubbish.

8vpolojack- if buy an amp from halfords and it costs more than you could of got it elsewhere- you should of shopped around, it doesnt mean you can go and nick stuff!

whenever i go to the scrappy i always get a handful of bulbs and fuses and stuff- if your paying for something they will let you have little stuff like that for nothing. (and no i dont just pocket it the bulbs- i ask!!)

They don't rip anyone off. There prices are there and if people want to pay them they can pay them. If they don't they can go else where. Sorry but there is no way you can justify stealing. Its a mother/teacher favourite but if everyone else jumped off a bridge would you? In fact, if your justification is "well everyone else does it" just makes you sound even more pathetic.

I gotta agree,

And if you take the 'victim' out of the equation, and stealing from a shop will tell people a lot about you before even knowing your name.

You could say illegal download is no different, but there is little stigma attached to digital files compared to material items, so barely anybody thinks twice about it.

Lol we charge a couple of quid per bulb in our workshop then about £25 labour to fit each one. A megane indicator bulb takes 3/4 of an hour to do (bumper off job sometimes) so that costs about £65 labour. A renault modus headlight bulb you have to remove the headlight and bumper lol, take about an hour and a half and comes in at about £130!!!!

Would love to take a modus to halfords and have them fit the the bulb in the carpark for £2 lol
