I have had my polo mk4 1.4 for 2 years now and it is a really nice car but just not powerfull enough any more.

i was thinking of getting a golf 1.9D or 2.0 for about £3000/ £4000 what do you guys think any recomendations,

i really like VW Corrado but the age of the car puts me of.

i really dont wont a car with massive mileage that will be in and out of the garage all the time any ideas/opinions

You want some power, what sort of power? A Torque monster? A screaming high revver? What sort of 0-60 time do you want?

Do you want a hatchback, a saloon, a coupe, a roadster, a sports car, a luxury car?

How many seats? Large boot space?

FWD, RWD, 4WD?

NA/FI?

Petrol? Diseil?

For that money there are loads of respectable cars you could buy.

MK4 Golf would be at the bottom of the list like. There just so damn boring to look at. You don't wanna wake up, get ready for work and then get into a wet fart and drive to work.

id get a mk3 vr6 tbph

i would of said a mk4 gti (maybe turbo) cos there are so many of them about so plenty choice to get a good one, but then i guess the fact there are so many about can put you off.

but then xcore makes a valid contribution- vr6. you know it makes sense.

for that sort of money you could get a mk1 golf in real good nick

Saw a lad in Bradwell Common today driving a champagne gold MK2 Golf on split rims and it was gorgeous. I dont see why that shouldn't be 100 percent reliable,if its a good one,been looked after.

I know someone had a MK2 and did nothing but oil changes and minor services in the three years he had it.

I still work on other peoples cars - the last three have been less than seven years old.

To be fair, i think that was a deliberate spelling mistake, as theres no fucking way anyone would think its spelt like that its not even pronounced that way

Not a fan of the Mk4 golf my mate has a Gt Tdi it isnt too bad off the mark but my god that car is boring ..

At the end of the day ots a Car and nothing more in my eyes .

I wouldnt go for a Mk3 either i think thats were VW qent downhill with the golf .

Personally i would get a Raddo G60 just for that noise or i would go for a Mk2 Golf 16v Gti

Both cars are far cooler .. The golf would be oodles of fun to drive were as the raddo is slightly lardy but just looks so mean ! Dosent matter how old a car is as long as it has been looked after and you look after it you should have no problems at all mate

I'd have a Corrado over a mk4 golf any day of the week. Age isn't the important thing (to an extent) it's how the car has been looked after. A 15 year old Corrado that has been serviced all it's life, regular oil changes, cleaned often will be much better than a 7 year old mk4 golf which has been used and abused without much consideration to servicing or anything. Mileage isn't the be-all-and-end-all either, how it's been looked after is the important thing which a lot of people don't seem to appreciate.

We've got a Mk4 Golf Tdi estate (for the bikes mainly) its a good car. But no fun. It took us to the south of france

and back perfectly, its not slow but i hate driving it, its boring, i like to feel the road :-)

Not everyone likes mk3 golfs, they rust more apparantly and arent as 'well made' but I've had loads and i didnt have a problem with any. They look good with so little effort but if you want something a bit nippy then choose the 16v or VR6.

Mk2's are awesome....end of discussion.

Mk1's are OLD, they look good but i would never have one as my only, daily car. Prepare for spending money to keep it going.

Corrados i have no idea about because I've never owned one.
