Isofix

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can someone please tell me when/if Isofix became an option on Polos? We're considering a 2004 model but cannot decipher if it has Isofix or not (we haven't physically seen the car yet).

Many Thanks.

Isofix is supposed to have become standard on most cars from ~1999.

The 6n2 has Isofix bars at the back of the seat cushions, but I can't remember if it had top tether points or if you'd need a support leg. No personal experience of the 9n, unfortunately, but I'd be very surprised if it doesn't have it. Googling gives a couple of results:

"All new (post-99) Volkswagens, except for the Polo and Sharan, are now fitted with Isofix child seat mounting points."

This one shows on the last page that the 6n2 and 9n have Isofix as standard, and (I think) that the 9n has top tether points

Have a feel in the gap between the seat back and the cushion on the rear seats. There should be two short metal bars or hoops to either side of each seat (probably not on the middle one, though). These are what the child seat hooks on to. Then in the boot, on the back of the seats there may be another hoop either near the top or near the bottom. These are the top tether points.
