plug 1 goes to the electric ignition module located on the pass side of the scuttle tray (small black box type thing)

plug 2 looks like it could be the reverse light switch on the gearbox? (not sure - is this connected yet? what colour are the wires to it?)

plug 3 goes to the wiper motor I think?

edit to say, car looks fuckin mint from what I can see!!

Is that not the original electronic-ignition loom,or did you not i.d the plugs? My 85 is now 88 spec loom. Anyway, the plug you're stuck on is the fan. They changed the design..

Wait i dont think i have one of thoughs electronic ignition control module did the 1984 1liter models have one.

Oh dear!

Yep,i can see by the shape of the satin black bulkhead that yours is a pre-86 shell, and the holes for the groomets are all different. The groomet near the big plug wont fit so you'll have to pass it through another. And as your old ignition was points'n'condenser, you'll need the module and later dizzy to complete the electronic ignition circuit.

Does your dizzy have the plug on it?

  • Author

yer my dizzy has the plug on it. dose that mean all i need now is the electronic ignition control module.

Yeah,you need one of these..

Four cylinder carb models from about '86-'92 (dep on model) had one - Polo,Passat,Scirocco,Golf,Jetta etc.
