guys I've got standard bbs wheels on my 6n2, I'm thinking of getting the centres painted black and keeping the polished lip. what i was wondering is how larger spacers can i fit to bring the wheels out, also what sized tyres can i stretch over them, there 15" and i believe 6.5j or 7j, the tyres now are 195x45,

i also want her lowered but only about 30mm will i have problems if i use spacers.

it all depends on the offset of your wheels.

i got the same wheels.. i will be runnning 20mm spacers with a 165 tyre...that should be ok

thas a nice little stretch...

(just remember) also you need the tread to be within the arch otherwise your going to be on the wrong side of the law lol

Babz is all good with his stretch & spacers...

upto you where you go with yours... good to measure up everythin & get a good idea, if your going to use spacers dont take the piss... wheels are the 1st thing police see when rolling up behind you!

Gti wheels have a silly high offset i think, u can get away with 25-30mm no probs with 165/50s.... but most people say that any more than 15mm can have a detrimental effect on bearings etc... seriously though, gti wheels are uber tucked, especially round the back so big spacers ftw!!

i think I'm going to run with 20mm spacers with the 165 tyre ( is ebay the best place to get spacers or can anyone advise on a good company ), sounds like it should look fat. should i be looking for 165x50 tyre or 165x45 tyre.

also how low can i go once I've brought the wheels out this much.

that is true...but if he wants a stretch..well his choice...you could get 185 nankanga i believe....

i would go for a 45 insteade of a 50 as it means you could go a little bit lower :

165/45's aren't available, only 165/50's!

cool il just keep to the spacers and a drop then for now, again does anyone know anywhere good to get spacers, and how much i should pay for them

i like the look of the ones that you bolt to the hub and the bolt your wheels to, rather than the universal ones which are sandwitched between the hub and wheel with longer bolts. should i worry about this or go for the cheapest i can find.

i got 10mm up front which are the universale ones....

the 20mm for the back you bolt on to the spacer...

i got them of bay for £50 postage which is alright....

I'm sure if your heading to Edition 38 you might find them there for cheap...but not sure...

Personally i hate 165/50's but id run 165/50 bridgestones over 185/45 nankangs, heard too many horror storys about the nankang's wet handling.... if you want a thin 195 get falkens.... spacer wise, H&R is the way foward, i wouldnt bother with universal spacers larger than 5mm... 2 sets of hubcentric h&r spacers and bolts should cost around 100 pounds in the sizes u want...

165 Bridgestones won't give you any better handling over a Nankang 185 in the wet tbh. If you're after stretch you should go for a 175 imo, but I'm not a fan of stretch. You definitely need hubcentric spacers if you're going for more than 5mm though as big_k says.

And personally I would lower it more than 30mm, I'd go at least 60/40 but again just my opinion :-)

On gti wheels 90-100mm in my honest opinion lol... they're so damn skinny... dont get me wrong i love the design but they're too thin! Plus if u over space them as such it'll look stupid from behind... trust me!! With regards to 165 bridgestones and 185 nankangs I'm just going by what I've been told, I've never run neither and hope i never will... why stretch a skinny tyre onto a skinny wheel lol...

do u mean 100mm drop, isnt that too low, i had my saxo at 60 and it didnt stop rubbing constantly, my starlet was 30/40 and it seemed fine.

saying this the polo does seem to bee very jacked up at the mo.

You'll scrub if u have wider wheels lol.. unfortunately gti wheels are about the same width and et as basic steels LOL so you probs wont scrub... if u drive like a fool though you'll rape your sump!! Anyhoo, just get some coilys and adjust till your happy, spring and shock kits are never enough... you'll regret not having the adjustability!!
