Fitted new manifold tonight...

Featured Replies

Been after a 4 branch for a while, thought about the ashley ones and heard differing opinions about the fit and quality then thought, fuck it i've been working all summer (i'm a student) i'll broaden my horizons...

Paul aka polo13 was selling his philJ 4 branch after putting a 16v afh in his mk3 so received it yesterday and fitted today!

it makes such a difference, it seems to pull and pull and pull, it's not loud which i like but it does seem more torquey

att certain revs i get a bit of knocking from the join against the chassis but gonna give it a move around over the weekend.

quick update...

got home from work and jacked it up, it was knocking on the cat brace so removed the cat brace and the centre section was knocking on the rear axel. gave it a bit of a bend and now it's perfect!

looks sweet mate, was thinking bwt one of these for my mk4, but not sure bwt gains etc,was it easy to fit?

relatively mate, just a case of removing your old downpipe and manifold, putting a new gasket over the studs and connecting it back to your centre section and secure it the same way as your old one was.

what's the spec of you are engine, you've had a bit one to it haven't u? 4 branch would see u on your way!

Woop woop! Should get some nice pops when the exhaust it warm

I need one of thoseeeeee

mmm, your 1.6 would love it... nice and stealthy mod i think it is. just need to rip the innards out of my backbox now to keep it looking stock.

Have you got a g40 backbox? If not get one, and a centre section. They sound sweet with the insides removed

was thinking of just gutting the GT box, i dont want really loud sounds so will have to look into it.

the G40 box and section may not go straight onto the square as thelengths are different but will deffo do some research...

The g40 system isn't any louder its just more free flowing. If it works out too long you can just cut it down if its too short just get a small section welded on. A g40 back system will reall reap the benefits of the 4 branch.

is there a thread on this g40 backbox mod? is it basicaly welding in a new pipe, then welding the backbox together? will that not just mean you have no backbox?

Just get a full stainless system.

G40 back box - £30

Full stainless system - £300

well put carver,

the subject of my car is sensible mods, and to keep stock looks at an alright price etc (4 branch is the most i've spent on a single item on the car)

i'm definitely gonna get a g40 backbox or modify the standard box and keep it looking stock, as money is getting tight....

Its the best way, keeping things on a good budget i nearly spent £300 on a s/s system a few months back but someone talked me round and I'm soooo glad. I think there a rip off to be honest. IMO you can make your own system up which will be just as good.
