yeah, when i bought the car the cooling fan wasn't wired up so i'm pretty sure it's used to getting hot!!

i have a spare white bonnet if i need one too

mine does run warmer with 4 branch....tho that could be the new engine operating at a different temperature

I thrashed my GT down to anglesey and back with my 4 branch on and a straight through centre section to a cherry bomb. Not had any bubbling of the paint yet but the bonnet does get very warm (it did before the 4 branch though). A bit of advice though, if you want a straight through to a cherrybomb or debaffled box and a 4 branch then its going to be very loud mine is, I'll have to get a video of how loud it is, sounds awesome though at full revs shooting off up the road

When i get my system, i thought about using Aluminium covered fibreglass adhesive tape, on the bonnet where it sits above the manifold. Its basicly aliminium tape so should help keep the heat off the bonnet. But then wrapping it is good for keeping general heat out the bay for induction in mind but then you carn't see the shiny pipes..

it's going thru to a g40 backbox... i couldn't do a debaffled box, it would get on my nerves. hopefully it's all good!

I'm just debating whether or not to wrap my stainless manifold, got the wrap sat in the shed, just can't decide whether I'd be better off with it or just to let the manifold turn blue and have it for looks.

or you could spot weld the original heat shield over the manifold to retain standard looks?

there is a large debate wether to heat wrap or not

mainly consisaing of people saying it keeps the heat out of the engine bay(for) and the other side saying that because of all the heat in the manifold it can cause it ti crack and get damaged(against)

I would have thought the cool air coming from the front of the car would be more likely to crack the manifold.

not the cooling air that would crack it...its locking the heat in...by heat wrapping it that cracks it

Another update!

got the G40 backbox fitted tonight, fitted a treat and actually hangs on the hangers unlike my old GT backbox.

i realy like the tone from around 2-4000 RPM, sounds raspy on full throttle then almost goes silent then the pop and crackle come back and are a lot louder than the GT backbox. The crackling noise is addictive!

Straight thru section to go on next week although i really like how it is at the moment so i may leave it off for now.

I did,

I've noticed that as soon as i've changed up a gear, accelerate again and the power is there, no hesitation or bogging.

Same goes changing down a gear, accelerate again and badda bing; zoom zoom zoom...

it actually went straight on matey... sleeved over the centre box pipe and hung up on existing hangers with standard rubbers!

i'd reccommend it mate, i loved reading your project thread- a nice free flowing standard looking exhaust would set it off!

steve aka 86C is running a full g40 system on his 1.6 i believe.

Another update...

Exhaust was blowing a bit today, got a new clamp and a new tube of gun gum and everything is sweet!

tested out the straight thru section also but i prefer it with the G40 backbox and standard GT sentre section.

All is well :)

it did seem that way, there was no increase in power from what i could feel so i thought i'd put the standard section back on.

if i had a completely standard system i would put the straight thru pipe on for a bit of extra rasp but mated to a 4 branch and decat it was a bit much for my hearse

shame you didnt like the straight through bud but glad your happy with the back box though.let me no on the other bits we talked about and ill let you no if i manage to sort any more bits out you may be interested in
