Whittlebury park have just called me to say that they are going to be putting the prices up to £17.50 per night on advance bookings, and charging £5 extra for on the gate bookings (total regardless of how many nights booked).

They have agreed to hold the current prices until the end of business Wednesday but anyone paying after that will have to pay extra

Thankfully they are now able to take payments by card over the phone, but they need to have the booking form e-mailed over before they can take payment.

The telephone number is 01327 850000, and you need to be put through to the camping office. At the moment please use the attached booking form and indicate on it which day you will be arriving.

I would strongly recommend people get on the phone and book as soon as possible, especially if you don't want to pay any more. They have also told me that just before the show they will seperate off the area of the field that has been prebooked and anyone else arriving and paying on the gate will have to take a chance they will be able to camp on the same field.

None of us are very happy about this, but its too late to pull out now even if we had another venue. However we will have to think very hard about whether to go back there again next year.

The new form will be up after 5pm on Wednesday night so get booking!

no, ayone who already has a ticket already has a ticket. Anyone who orders BEFORE 27th august (and you can pay over the phone by card to speed things up) gets the weekend for the current price of £30 per plot. Anyone booking in advance after 27th August will pay £35.00 per plot. Anyone paying on the gate will pay £40 per plot.

So by booking now in advance you can save a tenner!

I have to add, we are all pretty pissed off at Whittlebury for suddenly dropping this on us at the last minute with no warning. Just seems like they are cashing in....

Hopefully this will encourage more people to book in advance too, meaning that we'll get the beer tent and the hog roast!

when you compare somthing like BUG JAM which is £40 for 3 days with racing, live music / dj's etc with camping ...this would have to be a bloody good show ?

Mate, these are not the club's fairs, they're Whittlebury's.

Billing used to be £13 or something per night camping anyway.

The admin arrange the venue, which they have done. The CLUB comes together to make it a bloody good show, like '07.

I'm not going to be coming up this year, just seems abit dear tbh considerin its only a campsite at the end of the day...

we would all love to be able to hire a showground or some cool venue with lots happening but places like that need the money up front and we would have to try to get it back, which we probably wouldn't if this years anything to go by so far, so this is the best we can do.

The ideal option would be too share a venue with another club but its finding someone that would be willing to do that. don't forget shows like edition 38 are for a much wider audience so with just polo's its a bit restrictive.

finding somewhere with enough space, a bar and food on site, loos and showers, easy to find, near towns etc and that may be willing to put up with us lot isn't easy!

Besides Its the people that make the show, and we are always open to suggestions to help improve the it, perhaps after this year we can think of ways to make it even better for next year. unfortunately in this case we are restriced in some ways by what the venue will allow. but I'm sure there are things we can do if people actually bother coming, and we can still have tunes if someone's willing to step up?

Its basically a social gathering with a load of polo fans, i actually find i'm never bored as there is always someone to chat too or something to be drunk you just have to be willing to make some new friends and talk to people, its always a real laugh and everyone's really friendly so the lack of entertainment is never normally a problem, we have a few people that can always help amuse!

yes its a bummer the prices are going up, but there is still time to get in there cheaper if you book now you can stay all weekend, even sunday night if you like for £30, if you bring a mate thats only £15 each which is a bargain!

if everyone thought the same way as some of you we really shouldn't even bother having a show!

I think it's a good deal, £30 for 3 days, considering you go to some track days and pay £20 just for the day!! Well done to the admin for booking this up, sounds like a proper good site and if the people turn up it'll be a really good laugh.

Personally, something tells me that whittlebury are telling porkies when they say only 9 people have booked. I'm not saying I know for sure, but 9 people? That CAN'T be right, literally CANNOT. Hundreds turned out for the 2007 show - maybe the word wasn't spread for the 2008 show or maybe people really aren't fussed after all. The numbers are worrying, we all want this show to succeed - I think it will, but it's amazing how much ballache it's been for the others to try and set this up and do the right thing.

Me and Modest Mouse (AFAIK) have both booked. They can't tell me us two nuneatoners paid up front for something and nearly everyone else hasn't

Whittlebury is a high class location, as good as billing for facilities. But with that comes a business unsympathetic to speculation. Billing knew many would turn out, without fail. Whittlebury DON'T know that, we can't take that for granted.

i think a lot of people arent booking up in advance because of the weather. i remember going one year and it was a total wash out and eveyone went home by midday, but it didnt matter so much cos billing was cheap.

Given the current ecomonic climate i don't think so many people have got money to potentially throw down the drain if the worst happens and it rains all day.

I doubt i will go this year, but i will make my final decision closer to the time seing as its only 40 mins up the road.

If it rains all day it just means I won't have to fetch water for the slip n' slide :p

Last year's weather preceding the show was rubbish, almost exactly the same. Then come september, heatwave! And the show was in paradise.

You cant let the weather bother you lol. It's England, you never know what its going to do.

nope i can assure you, 9 bookings there were 6 last time i called so thats an improvement! lets just hope a lot more people that want to go do the maths and realise that if they book in the next 5 days its going to be a lot cheaper.

I don't think some of you realise how soul destroying it is to sort out all of this and get to this point and find so many people arn't interested? fuck the weather i say i have a coat, an umbrella and several show jumpers.... as said this is england.... have some of you been to GTI international? well maybe those that have can kind of put it into perspective a bit you pay shit loads of money to walk around all day getting cold and wet and blown about then have to camp in a field with nothing at all but mud, which you have to drive to and from every day and pay more money for the privilage so if the polo show ends up half as bad as that then feel free to go ahead and complain as much as you like but until then please be a bit positive!

The weather will improve, its going to be a great atmosphere hearing the cars gong round the track, I will have my car on the road by then and its going to be a great show :-)

I also think it's worth saying, the club has never made a single penny out of any of the shows, in fact it costs money. All the fees are charged by and go right to the owners of the ground, Billing Aquadrome previously and this year Whittlebury Park, we don't see any of the money and it's not up to us how much gets charged. Also, we'd have much preferred to go have stayed at billing too but due to the actions of certain people last year we aren't allowed back so our hands are tied.

We hsould still have a cracking weekend though, yes it's not like edition where they have big tents with dj's and what not but we don't have the money for that and our show prob isn't big enough to cover the costs.

to sleep in a tent for a weekend and look at cars dont think thats a fair price.....
