1 litre G40

Featured Replies

Hi guys thinking of doing this for a giggle

Is it possible to put everything from a G40 onto a 1litre bottom end

i do know quiet abit about these engines but wondered if anyone had done it before and if it worked and for how long

i've been lmao all day thinking about it

Cheers Grant

It wouldn't have the drain hole to connect to the oil return on the charger and probably not the knock sensor either.

cheers neil i've already got that covered

I'm going to fit two head gaskets to lower the compression like i said though guys i'm doing this for a giggle as an mechanical exercise

you dont NEED a knock sensor so dont worry

what about the oil drain from the charger?

dont think it has been done before, closest was a mk2 polo 1 litre fitted with an eaton, dunno if its still going or not though.

definately possible, will be interesting to see what performance it will give, should rev like a bitch being a shorter stroke than the 1.3. so are you using g40 pistons, head and injection system, or is it more along the lines of sticking a g-ladder on it and see what happens? guess you will need a remapped ecu to sort the fueling too

what about the oil drain from the charger?

all that would be sorted using a stand alone oil system, hayesey has done an faq on making one over on clubg40

if you realy wanted to do it ....and if you have a g40 ....if I'm wrong please somone tell me .but wouldnt just changing the crank give you 1L

And rods, presumably, unless the block is a different height?

I was just thinking that, surely its the crank/rods/pistons that affect displacement? I'm no mechanic but the blocks are all the same size and the cranks in the same place, so...?

A 1L G40 would be taking the piss & pointless but on the other hand would be amazing to see if it worked and hilarious.

Just a few niggles the G40 has various uprated bits sodium vales etc. to make sure it handles the charge and the AAU & AAV do not so any ideas how to get around these or you going to just bolt it on and see how long it lasts?

Shouldn't an injector out of a 1.3 SPI give the extra fueling?

haha when you duin it grant! lol

al be there 8-)

I would have thought you will need more fueling then what the 1.3spi gives. What about running it on g40 management, looms and polo gt injectors?

If it works you might be looking at 80ish bhp if your lucky?

If you're going to do this, use a G40 head.

I assume you'll be using G40 management with G40 inlet, TB etc.

It's something I'd do if I had all the bits to do it lying around, it'd not be hard to plumb up the oil feed and return to a 1L block, but would not be worth it if you didn't have all the bits already.

It's not gonna last that long though, even if running stock size pulley  The AAU is 9.5 or 9.8:1 C/R depending on where you check.

I'd not bother fitting additional head gaskets to lower the CR, it won't increase the life expectancy. Detting will kill it.

The mapping is gonna be interesting too, what are you planning on using? A standard G40 chip or something that has been tweaked by someone for the decreased cc?

I've got all the parts needed sat in a pile with a 30K from new AAU bottom end. I killed the pistons on the g40 bottom end so i've got everything needed to fit it all together G40 head, Wiring, Ecu, intercooler, gearbox etc etc...

I'm going to bolt everything from a G40 to a AAU bottom end and see how long till it goes bang i'll get some pics up and a film on youtube if i can for you all to enjoy.

I'm board and like a challange and a good laugh neil_dubgt will tell you lol.

Neil i'm doing it on the farm next weekend if you fancy coming down give me a call because i've broken my old phone and i've lost all my numbers

i wondered why you wernt answering my texts!

You trying to say it worked then? type in mk2 polo eaton is that the video if so its a mk2 1 litre with and eaton bolted on not a mk3 aau with everything from a G40 bolted on

Do it do it do it
