my old gt used a cable on the gearbox to read the speed.

surly an 8v box will not give enough top end?

youll get higher top end from the 8v gearbox..

well the car now goes... fairly well i must say! rolling road this saterday so there will be an update on the engines status soon enough!

cant get the door cards in but i will get them in some day haha right now I'm not to botherd just enjoying the car =] so many people get suprised by the car its soooo funny

whats your exhaust setup like?

i had a cat straight to a backbox from a 1.9 sdi.

but this past sat i took the cat out, so its just a straightpipe to a 1.9 sdi exhaust.. fackin loud man :-s

rindiesel, just the 8v set up well in a way! its an 8v kit but staight through to back box! sounds gooooooooood =]

i wont be decating it tho as i dont want the car to be that loads in all honesty lol

nope never delt with any conversions on cars of any sort before it was my first time doing anything like this and if u dont mind me saying... i done damn well! atleast i like to think so :) so my first attempt went pretty darn well

yeah that is pretty damn good job, think i would of given up after seeing the amount of wiring loom in some of them photos

what brakes are you running the g60's ?

and have you fitted the rear discs of the mk5 to your mk4 ?

still using the 8v brakes as I'm sooooo skint the now! but I'm uprating to 250mm brakes as theres no danger of 280's fitting under them cups! which sucks... also doing the rar disc conversion at the same time as i do the fronts... hopefully sooner than later in all honesty. hate running the 8v brakes!

I've turned mine blue frequently, even with ebc greenstuff pads:-s

they heat up after a lap or two at the local track...:-/

would love to have bigger brakes, but i have 13's:(

rachel was n the rolling road today, she done fairly well I'm more than haappy with the out come in all honesty!

my results for today were:

standard: 125bhp - 109lbft torque

mine: (rounded up) 145bhp - 123lbft torque ^_^ foooook aye!

engines had nothing done to it as of yet! it only has a bmc, straight through center section and back box =] power to weight helps abit to XD

Max power to the wheels 116bhp? Arent GTI's 125 at the wheels, or is that at the fly?

Either way, really like this car, te 6n2 dash is a MAJOR improvement IMO, 6n dashes are almost as dated as a mk2 Golf dash :p

totally 6n2 dash is hella better than the 6n well loving it!

in all honesty dude... I'm a noob when it coms to cars (I'm learning now obv but still noob) and it was fairly easy i have to say! :) loved every might of the engine swap over!

do it dooo it if u can find one!!! its fairly insane... and my car got more bhp and torque than an AFH with cams,4branch, de cat, straight through, back box,bmc. This wast on the same day as mine but it only pulled at 125brake at the fly! and a fair few people say its not worth thetransplant in a mk4... wen yes yes it is! but still do it in the 6n2 its like sex lol

I'm the same as u dude, done a few bits here and there but nothing this big, i might aswell give it a try, if i fuck it up then i can call in the pro's as my dad has a recovery truck to drop it off at a garage anyway :p

And i already have a 6n2 dash, so thats one less job for me :)
