Its the 'D' and 'F' banner that do it, and the slashed '0's etc.

Should be ok with plain pressed plates, even in the German DIN or FE fonts, as long as you dont have those symbols.

disagree, james89 (not around on here much now) got pulled a couple of weeks ago for his pressed plates, gb banded but non english font

Still illegal but barely noticeable, i think he just had a bit of bad luck.

IMO, if you want pressed plates, get fully legal stamped up ones.

If your prepared to take the risk, then go for 'D' banners, font, hyphons etc..

That's bollocks for a start then, doesnt matter if they're ali, plastic or concrete, and its the yellow and white that has to be reflective not the black iirc.

i was sure it was the yellow and white that had to reflect too...

oh well, I'm unsure of whether mine are legal or not, but they are pressed, UK pre 2001 font and not banded and i've never had any bother, and they look a billlllion times better than plastic ones.

As for the illegal ones i think its just down to chance whether you get bother or not tbh

This just about sums it up.

I'm pretty sure pressed plates are illegal.

The digits must be a certain font, size, colour and spacing.

The level of reflex must conform to the British Standard which apparently is quite rare on a pressed plate.

A non reflective border and a Euro symbol band are allowable.
