It's pissing down today and I noticed a pool of water in the passenger side foot well.

I took off the doorcard and pulled back the foam to find water inside of the door - it was coming in from the lower window seal, which isn't sitting completely flush against the glass. I tried to bend the seal so it'll fit against the glass correctly without success.

Has anyone else had this problem? How did you fix it? I've tried looking on gsf and euro car parts from window seals but they don't appear to sell them.

Any advice on how to resolve this problem will be appreciated.

not coming in through the scuttle if its blocked with leaves? quite a common leak place for them bud

Is there a plastic membrane behind the door card or are they not designated "wet doors". My mk3 has a similar problem but the plastic keeps the water out of the car. It escapes through the holes in the door bottom

Yes their is a membrane, and it does have a split in it where the previous owner has upgraded the speakers. Would ducttape sort this problem out?

I tried tape but it didnt last very long as it eventually gets wet & peels off.

I also tried glueing a plastic bag over the gash which wasnt too great either.

Eventually i got one off a door @ the scrappy. Have to be very carefull peeling it off.

I have seen stuff @ a car audio shop that is a replacement for the membrane. It was foil & used a really strong adhesive strip to attach the door. It came on a roll or in a pack & you cut it to size.
