Hi, thought I would create a thread for my latest purchase.

Got bored of my GT, and after much researching on planning to G40 it, I've had no luck in searching for a suitable engine, and after a bit of maths I concluded I would be better off buying a G financially, so after a year of saving, I have reduced myself to living like a mouse for the next month or 2 for the sake of this!

Most of you have probably seen it somewhere before, I cannot take any credit to it as it stands!

Model:

1992 Volkswagen Polo G40.

Has had a respray in original Alpine white.

Engine:

Has had a full PSD rebuild, short spec:

• 1341 Rebore, with PSD Pistons.
• Lightened Flywheel
• PSD 1341 Camshaft
• 250cc Injectors
• Full blend charger, with low mileage scroll.
• PSD Toothed belts, and iirc 68mm Pulley
• PSD Cone filter (massive!)
• Boost return mod
• PSD stand alone charger oil supply
• Alloy catch tank
• GT Inlet manifold
• PSD 4 Branch and front pipe, Bastuck rear silencer.
• 51mm Throttle body
• Oil cooler
• Helix organic paddle clutch
• PSD Remap to suit

Suspension:

• FK kit, with different springs, 70mm front, 2 notches left on the rear!
• Gladersite ARB Blocks
• Powerflex TCA Bushes
• New VW rear beam bushes.

Brakes:

• 239mm Vented disks, think there genuine VAG, along with pads to match
• PSD braided lines
• New copper lines throughout
• AP Racing bias valve
• Rear disk conversion, using Golf GTI Calipers and carriers and stubs, custom hand brake cables.

Wheels and Tyres:

Revolution RFX, 14x7, ET24, 175/50 Pirelli P6000's.

Exterior Styling:

Smoothed boot removal of the arch trim, colour coded and smoothed bumpers with nimbus grey tops. Also has a wing mirror blank plate on the NS, and a tiny bike style mirror on the drivers side, and some non-vag side repeaters, and the usual de-badged grill.

Interior Styling:

Standard G40 front seats, 4 Point harnesses, boost and oil pressure gauges. False floor in the rear.

ICE and Security:

Sony H/U, infinity and alpine speakers in the floor.

Comments:

Have to mention the cars previous owner, Chris Morley from sussex, for creating a bit of a beast!

Future Plans:

Few spots of paintwork to start with, and a dent on the bonnet, may sort some black bumpers, as I'm not convinced the CC'ding works, maybe some more stealthy wheels!

That spec sounds well good. I wanted to go 1341 but opting for an eaton instead.

Is this the same one that used to have the beautiful leather bucket seats in?? If so it is a monster of a car!! :-) Nice purchase

that is gorgeous!! i love all the small touches like the side repeaters and the lack of gutter trim i think it all adds up to give a really clean look stance is perfect as well

Cheers for the old pics! No pictures, but got some satin black teardrop winters on, and just ordered a 60/40 FK kit from ebay.de, as I'm not keen on damaging the PSD/Bastuck exhaust every time I drive out of my village lol.

Small Update!

Right, whilst it was left at Westcroft in MK, day of the next sale that the missus had to go to, came back and found some bastard had creased the wing and just driven off, and 'cos the arch was rolled, it has rippled the whole panel and cracked the paint..

Few weeks back I..

Removed both wings, cleaned up all the old waxoyl and crap, (takes ages, ended up spraying on white spirit to dissolve it!) And given the under arch area a thin coat of tetraschutz.

Then left it in the garage for about a month, and today got it out and got cracking changing the suspension.

Got the strut off all fine, but not sure what had happened, as when I undone the top mount, the whole strut just disassembled itself! The slotted nut that is supposed to hold the spring under tension, has no thread on it.. So that halted that, so need to order a couple more from the stealers.

Will also be getting some new dust guard bits, as there rusty, and getting the struts blasted and painted. Also have some non G40 carriers, so I won't need 5mm spacers to stop the wheels catching on the calipers.

Whilst the strut was off, gave it another coat of tetraschutz, and then canned a couple of coats of alpine white, followed by some lacquer.

Flat battery for being left for a couple of weeks with the interior light on..

Mess, and my poopty sloping driveway :blink:

Finished for the day, started pissing down, so tucked back up in the garage..

Will hopefully get the castle nuts in a couple of days, then get cracking with changing the springs.

Another update, seems like I've spent most of the day working and got nothing done.

Been spending recently, brakes were basically standard, so after much ebaying pair of these turned up..

Don't look very interesting/nice, but there a pair of Girling 54 calipers, with Audi 80 Quattro carriers, which bolt straight onto the polo strut body, giving you a vented 256mm front setup, same as a '90 spec 16v MK2.

Carriers off, after about 2 hours of wire brushing/cleaning..

Also bought some new splash guard bits, and a few bolts, and some new top mounts, to put on with the suspension..

Painted with high temp stuff, using it as primer, will paint the calipers Audi Nimbus grey, to go with the theme inside the car :p

Just need to get a rebuilt kit for the calipers, some paint, and new pads/disks then wack them on.

Right, calipers all cleaned, hours of wire brushing..

Also been to vw and bought everything new to service the calipers, along with genuine VAG disks, and will be ordering some green stuff's for the pad department.

Also picked up some of these for the rear - MK4 GTI calipers, half way through cleaning..

Nothing wrong with the MK2 Calipers that are on it, I just don't like them lol, and the hand brake cables will be getting changed, and the rear beam coming off to be cleaned and painted at some point.

Right, brakes are on, after mucho setbacks with bodged wheel bearings its all good now:)

Also props to Big Red, went to get the seals etc from VW, even got them the part numbers, and they still cocked it up, and ordered me 239mm VW2 caliper seals/bits..uselesssss...

Taken it down the road, good pedal feel, seem on first time, normally am useless at bleeding brakes!

Haha no, had a few setbacks with niggly things, so got nowhere near as much done as I'd hoped, I wouldn't mind getting a spare rear beam, getting it powder coated and building it up off the car so I can just swap it, also want to underseal and paint all underneath, so much work tho.

I've wax oiled all my arches and will start on painting the beam when it gets back. I know what it's like to never be finished! Lol

If you ever sell those wheels, let me know
