hi, I've got the v5 for my bmw, but in the previous owners name as i bought it from a garage

i was planning on just filling my details in and sending it off but i forgot the signature part at the bottom, and the previos owner has not signed this

if i just sign it and leave the previous owner signature bit blank and send it off will it all process through? if someone was to mysteriously sign it and i sent it off would there be no repurcussions??

i ought a civic and the previous owner signed it (scrawled barely ledgable) m.mouse, i only noticed when i got home but it went through fine.

i've also signed a couple of mine with an 'x' and never had any comebacks, just had greasy hands or hands full of documents so thought an x would be good enough!

i just signed it with an x for their half and posted it off, hopefully should have no probs

I had to sign for my Discovery as the bloke I bought it off forgot to sign it, and then he moved to Baku

i bought a beemer which was 200 miles from so had it collected and the seller just signed for me.

it would only matter if the seller reports it stolen i guess

i reckon the signature would only get looked at if there was a problem and they had to dig out the old V5 to investigate- for a normal transfer of owner you can sign whatever you like they wont even notice.

yeah it all came through fine with no probs in the end
