Uncle Terrys Sketches

Cheers dirrt, thats what i was thinking of ;)

Couple more from the last two days...

Hows this for radical?

Mk1 Golf - This car would have to be built from the ground up in order with a tubular chassis. This would hold the V8 up front, driveshaft and rear diff. In order to fit this in, the firewall would be moved back internally, meaning a completely custom interior would have to be created. While thats being built, the bodywork can be heavilly customised in order to match it to the large power. A hefty whack off of the roof will be made easier by adding chopped panel vans to the back, meaning you dont need to source new glass for those windows. A muscle car inspired front end has been created here, involving a deepened and reshaped grille. A standard gti chin spoiler has been modified to create two small bumpers. The look is completed by some long angled chrome tailpipes, three on each side, and some wide rubber to get that power down.

I was meant to do a car for da_flo on clubpolo late last year, and only just got round to it :p

Wheels didnt come out well, but pleased with the rest of it.

I've put some of my other work up on a design portfolio website, some of you on MSN might have seen:

Keep the love coming people ;)

Cheers. Mike.

I played with photoshop a bit and think i got the picture closer to how it is in real life. The paper is slightly transparent and the markers dont scan well, so a certain amount of contrast adjustment is needed lol.

da_flo - I'm still working on trying to find out how much to post. I've been very busy with a project atm though, and trying to get my car running in time so it can get me home when i move out of this house lol. No spare time atm I'm afraid. Will try to get on it asap though, sorry!

I've done a couple of sideview drawings this weekend.

I did this rapid sketch on friday just before going out. Took about half an hour, and is the first I've done in a few years with no underlay and no referance material. Just straight from the top of my head.

And this is a fun idea for a beetle I've had in my head for a while now. Hot rod front end, Baja rear end, raked roof, pillarless windows, Audi Centra wheels, and a b289 style paintjob.

beetle_maniac.jpg

Probably my last few for a while, got to concentrate on my project and getting the car working for summer.

that "rapid sketch" is serious, lol love the rear wheel and the spokes and the lines of the hole car, looks like its mooving.. lol engine is phat :)

Only just seen the loon on here, looks wicked on my wall. Thanks again dude was a top present from you then Giorgio haha. xxx

allright mate!don´t panic,as long as you keep that in mind :)

Finished this Mk5 Polo earlier.

polomk5.jpg

My damn scanner doesnt like picking up the beige shade though, so had to mess around with highlight and contrast levels, messing up a lot of the other shades.

Looks a lot better in the flesh, so come look at them at a meet, ill probs have them on me :p

Whatdya reckon?

that is sick!...i would love to get my front end to look like that!!1

Thanks all.

I didnt know you had it on your wall, Charlie. Is that the original or a copy? I should have got it copied and blown up at the uni shop!

I quite enjoyed doing the quicker sketch, i might do some more in a similar style.

Maybe some more modern cars for those of you on here lol.

Cheers again.

He got it printed onto a canvas for me at a shop in Cov. (the one near tesco express in that horrid courtyard type bit) Absolutely love it, even though my stupid non driving little sister asked if it was from a charity shop like the other picture on my wall...bitch!

are you a student man?

I just finished my car design degree at the university of huddersfield. Gunna get some of my sketches up too. What markers do you use?

Good shiz :)

Ah right. I made a thread that everyone posted work in here:

http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?...=116304&hl=

Could be cool to keep going lol.

I think i said already here, i use Chartpak markers and derwent wax pencils (more so recently than on the pictures here - more to come soon ;) ) on letraset marker pads.

Been working hard on a project 3D modelling for the Interior Motives design competition for the past few weeks (as well as trying to get my car working so it can get me to work and earn back the money i spend on it over summer!), but i should find some time soon to get some interesting stuff done i hope.

Few for you here:

Thought id try out a bit of a new style based on Steve Kirks drawings. I've always looked to his work for inspiration, and i always used to use pencil to colour illustrations, but this is the first time I've combined pencil and marker to get the look that i feel he has in his hot rods and custom cars.

I've not done a mk6 golf yet, i think because I've stuggled to work it out. I really like the rear end of the new golf, but couldnt put my finger on why. I realised yesterday that they're the first golf since the mk1 to have horizontal headlamps! So i tried to hark back to the mk1 a bit more by repositioning the numberplate to between the lights, and then i went about modifying it in the euro street style of the early nineties. In the traditions of steve kirk, it has a nice bright green paint job, smoothed bumpers, tinted windows, and some flat five spoke wheels. I also hid the exhaust pipe and gave the lights some smoother looking lenses.

I think it looks a bit factory in comparison to my previous few cars, but its more in keeping with the subtle nineties euro cars that inspired me to draw cars in the first place.

Nuther one...

Pro Street style Vauxhall Chevette. Had fun doing this, but my scanner wont pick up the colours well at all, so it looks pretty poor in comparison to the original paper one.

Ah well, heres the shot:

Heres one for you new school polo lovers:

Bit of a JDM feel to this 6N, with its riveted on arch kit, custom tinted headlamps, and deep front splitter. This is topped off with some smoothed bodywork, bright green paint and some torque thrust D style wheels.

sketch1.jpg

Who likes the new colour style?

woud love you to draw my car, how much woud it cost you to do it for me if i got a good picture?

send me a pm.

shaun

i like the new colour style, drawings look spot on as usual!!...that JDMish 6N looks the nuts!

mustang1.jpg

I like the way the reflections came out on this one.

that looks immense, good choice of car ;) 67 mustang, easily best mustang going

got a lot fo time for these, do you by any chance not like wingmirrors?

Lol I never add wing mirrors when I'm rendering either unless I need the shadow of them to communicate complex surfaces.

Love the Mustang Uncle Terry.

Cheers all.

The 67 is the definitive shape for the mustang i feel, though the 69 gt350 in yellow with black stripes has to be my favourite ;)

Maybe ill do one of them soon... :p

Yeah I've not put wing mirrors on for a while now i look back at them lol. Not got an intentional hate for them, just brought up with the old euro theme of less is more and smoothing everything, it kinda makes things easier when drawing cars lol.

I'll put some on the next car for you ;)

Deffinitly feelin' that stang! Good work!
