I'm after a roll cage for my saloon

i know no one makes them for saloons but does anyone know here to get a cheapish mk3 one as it will still fit just needs a little modification the the parcel shelf thing

plus what are your opions on this idea

surely u can get one custom made thers a few sites around that will make them to you are car for about 600 to a grand! worth a look maybe i cant rember the site or i would send you it sorry !

lol yeah thats true I'm going to make one my self! and just weld i spose thers only one way to test it haha and I'm hopeing i dont have 2 =/ but mayb find some one else to weld beacuse the pipein is so cheap!

oh and only after a half cage :)

dont bother with a show cage, they're worse than no cage at all. either fork out for the real deal or don't bother! if you do end up crashing it you'll have a load of tubes floating about your head with a show cage

a freind of mine made up a cage out of plastic tubing then took it as a template to a welder and had it made in steel

cost about £100 i think

just make shure you use reputable welder and you have a plate behind the mounting point not just a washer and bolt as iv'e seen done before

as gofasterpinch said you dont want tubes flying around your head if you do get it a bit wrong one day

You will find that if its an OMP one then its probably approved for race use, with the appropriate stickers / certification. Whereas a custom one 'might' not be any good if you decide to go rallying etc.

yeah but got to be carfull with omp ones beacuse they do alot of show cages as well as u might of seen on ebay and stuff omp cages for like 200quid and it says on ther that the show cages =/

doesnt have to be FIA spec, needs to be MSA spec and thats quite easily achievable from most custom cage builders.

what do SD charge for thier full cage these days? I didn't pay 800 for my full SD cage with door bars, x-bar and harness bar brand new.

technically SD doesn't actually exist any more, bought out moved to poland lost a load of jigs in the move and now they make about half the cages they used to.

I believe SD still have the G40 jig but wont make it unless they get a minimum of 5 orders...
