This is my first project and this is the heart of the beast ready to go in the weekend

its a NZ block with GT pistons supplied by Petsy (cheers bud) The head been port polsihed and three angle grinded to widen the inlet and outlet values

New GT Clutch and lighten GT flywheel old 1.05 four speed gear box.

My inlet manifold coming tomorrow for my CBR600 carbs paid 50 quid!!! then taking to a place to get a custom exshaust fitted.

JUst got to figure out how to wire in the old cyclinder coil to the polo s dizzy.

Building an cost more than first plan!!

Any future problems to come that i should know of.

its probbaly just my ocd kickin in but, why not clean up and paint the rest of the bits

and its gna sound amazing with them carbs on! and problem wise just be careful with the carbs that they dont overfuel and drip i think thats what the problem is... it sets fire to cars (grungeisdead found out unfortunatly)

I know I was saying that tonight going to paint the gear box blue.

The engine bay has been painted black the head is painted gun metal grey and small bits are paint yellow and the engine mounts are all blue.

Getting a CBR fuel pump and i'm connecting the breathers to a alloy catch tanks to stop fuel going everyway.

I know it every time I see that photo I cry a little in the inside MK1 gold are so retro and cool. I went to a scrappy and they had a full MK1 golf GTI just sitting there doing slowly dying. And next to it a VR6 engine just sitting their MK1 + VR6 = lots of fun.

Did it set on fire from the car spilling over onto the manifold?
