I had to refurb my front orange wheels as I was lazy and didn't clean them, so dirt just stuck to them and wouldn't come off. So I stripped them down and re-sprayed them the same colour. My front badge was also chipped from when I had painted it black, so I thought, "what the hell, I'll do this orange too just for a laugh"

No chance :-) Only did the badge as it was already stone chipped or I would have left it. Will be going black again when I eventually get some alloys

Don't think I'd ever change anything on the car which is body coloured. Too much of an effort to put back to normal when I get bored.

Banding steels are when you make the wheels wider :)

Don't think I'd ever mess with body coloured parts as it's too hard to go back if I ever get bored/change my mind.

buy another set of mirrors 2nd hand and then change em...?

then when you get bored you can just switch em back over.

Re the mirror caps, you could pick a second set for a few quid from eBay or a local breaker and spray 'em up then swap and change as you please!

I've got two sets of mirror caps cause I always change my wheels and mirror colour. there only £15 for the casings from Volkswagen.

I think if you were to band the steelies you should get bigger ones. Those look okay cause they have uber large tyres but once you get some low profiles on there I think you'd get loads of arch gap.

I agree, I was always going to go for 14's with low profile tyres.

Regarding the mirror caps, I have two stubby's, so I would have to get hold of a casing from Germany for the offside, but could easily get one for the nearside from here.

You should be able to get both sized caps in the UK. I'm sure they are the same as Lupo caps and some Lupos came with stubbys on both sides.
