Hey guys been lurking on this forum for ages and like what i see!

I'm 22 and only jus learning to drive (lazy i know) and have had this polo cx since my 18th birthday.

its 1984 polo cx 1043cc 4speed, needs new rad, down pipe, breaks, door seals an bits and bobs to get it sorted for daily use 185/50 14s then I'm gonna lower it an go from there really. Theres a few dings and dents in bodywork but no major rust issues its solid for a 24 year old car.

Nothing much to look at sorry bout the pics am not very good with cam. have a butchers and let me know what u think, any ideas suggestions are welcome. 8-)

I didnt know they did a coupe mk2 CX wow my first polo was a mk2 reg A367AAW polo CX silver square 1.1 wonder if it still is on the road

Oh can anyone check if my A484XTG mk2 polo GL is still going or my mk2 1984 coupe s B289TDV fitted twin choke weber lowered 40mm and i fitted a GT lump to help things along

Thats bloody nice looks like it just needs a right good polish, get the colour back and the bumpers all blacked etc

looks a clean one.

Looks a very nice car mate.

Personally, I'd be using the time to clean it up as best as I could and give it a decent and thorough service sorting out the mechanical issues along the way.

Whilst you can, remove the bumpers and wheel arch trims etc and sort out any dents and rust on the bodywork. A bit of action from a pressure washer under the wheel arches and engine bay will make it easier to work on in the future too. Spray some rustproofing wax into the sill cavities and inside the doors/tailgate etc. With this done give it a really good T Cut and a polish. Then wax it to seal in the shine.

Get the back to black out on the bumpers and wheel arch trims and refit all the trim. Clean everything you can, it will look so much better and really be worth all the effort.

Inside, thoroughly clean the seats, door cards, carpets, headling and dash. Don't forget the windows inside and out too.

Believe me, you'll end up with one very, very smart looking car for not a lot of outlay (unless you uncover some nasty rust!)

Good luck with the car and the test.

Cheers,

Richard.

cheers for the comments guys, passed the test now so all my cash can be spent on this liul beauty to get her roadworthy, orderd some parts from GSF, so hopefully road worthy before long tho there is a white mk3 gt coupe going locally for around 300 notes with a couple months mot and tax which i may be going to check out, watch this space

My first car was a silver 1093cc mk2 Squareback CX (A377JEL) had 40mm lowered springs, Coupe S interior, mk4 13" steels with 185/60/13 Yoko's and a 4" straight through system made out of a scaffold pole! Traded it in against a mk2 golf GTi back in 2000!

looks like a clean example! good luck with it!

i like it! never been a fan of p-slots, but they suit it down to the ground. 60/40kit will make it look good but not too low, bit of clearance for the larger wheels aswell, being a B reg if it has the postage stamp brake pads on it, get the calipers and carriers changed to the VW1 or VW11 setup up, as those brakes are shocking. if you have access, heatgun the bumpers to get them black again, the arches will either need colour coding or B2Bing. mk3 gt conversion would be good, or even a 1272 with a weber makes it wayyy easier on long journeys.

not sure if the gt is going to materialise, if not plan was a philj 60/40 kit an restore the trim as u say, bit of ice and jus use it :-D

was wondering about the breaks have mk2 goof 16v calipers and carriers kickin round from my bros old mk1gti project, will these fit??????

Mk2 Golf 16v carriers have different mounting hole spacing so wont fit. If you can find some off an Audi 80/90/Coupe 5 cylinder between about 1984 and 87 they will fit but they're hard to find. I suggest you buy some G40 brakes as they're readily available cheaply on here (see the for sale section) and will be plenty good enough for a 1043.
