DIY Matt Black

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of spraying my 6n matt or satin black, with rattle cans :-)

I've seen a few cars that have been done with cans and they looked good, there was a polo breadvan in a recent Fast Car mag and that looked awsome. I've got loads of little scuffs, rust & laqure peel on nearly every panel so it can't possably look much worse!

I've searched the forum for a guide but cant find one. So any advice, comments or a link to a guide would be appriciated.

if you do it with rattle cans mate you wont get an even spray, bits will be shinier than others where you have put more paint on, and youl never get it to match up.

if i was doin it id borrow/hire a gun, even if you still do it yourself the gun will make all the difference.

If hire a gun where would i get the paint from? how much would it cost to hire a gun?

You would get paint from a paint shop funnily enough

hahaha :smirk:

Anyone know the price of paint per litre? My mate said a car usally needs 17 litres, is this right?

Don't bother, keep as it is! pick the worst bits and spray it yourself. Its not going to be worth much/anything if you matt black it mate.

how to completely fuck up your car and make it unsellable in one easy step! Why anyone does this to an otherwise good car is beyond me....

matt black is so out this season, camo wrap FTW :ninja:

ille spray it for you :D i done my mates bready with cans and it looked really good, no patches etc and his saloon in matt brown looks superb!

satin would leave alot more marks and patches so use matt! and if YOU wanna do it just do it...

Do it 6n's are worth f*all nowadays anyway.

phew thought it was just me, matt=tatt

thanks for the comments, as above 6n's seem to be cheap as hell now annyway so i might aswell give it a go! Camo would be cool, but i love matt black so much i think I'm just gonna go for it.

if you can get a cheap gun and compressor as the finish will be so much better than out of cans and for the sake of say and extra £50 its worth it surely as cans alone arent cheap

satin IS hard to get a decent finish with cans. If you do wanna spray your car, do it matt and take your time.
