have you embarrased another driver?

Featured Replies

reading through the tailgaters post brought back some happy memories of embarrasing a couple of drivers who picked on me because i was driving 'a crappy polo'

both were when i owned my 3rd capri green g about 5 years ago, de arched, 14" golf steels basically looking dog rough!

1st one was when leaving the motorway on the way back from southend cruise at 2am, i approached the lights at the end of the off ramp, the lights were red and coming round the roundabout was a 'kitted up' 106 gti who slowed down and was staring at my car, he stopped on a green light and kept looking across at me. soon my lights turned green so i set off down a long dual carridgeway then presto there he was right up behind me then next to me passing me then slowing down. he followed me to the next set of lights sat next to me revving the nuts off it, it appeared to be turbo'd giving it dumpvalve menace. i could see they were smirking at my rough polo and he obviously wanted a race!

anyway he followed me down the next single track road then on to another dual carridgeway still revving it and being a idiot and was starting to wind me up. he left a little gap so he could fly by so out he popped foot down, i watched him approaching in the mirror, when he got ~ 2 carlengths from the back of mine i dropped a couple of cogs and booted it, he drew alongside me long enough for me to smirk back at him as he started to fall back!

he followed me again and tried to overtake again and i wiped the floor with him. coming to the next set of lights i slowed up and waited for him to catch up and break the good news that he just had his arse handed to him by a 1.3 but he saw me slowing down, stopped did a swift u turn and crept off in the opposite direction! i was in stitches the rest of the way home!

2nd similar thing audi tt (3.2) up my rs dual carridgeway so i slowed down so he had to pass, he over took then slowed in front of me, i followed him for about a mile doing 50mph in a 70 before i got the hump and decided i'd pass him. i drew alongside him and glanced over to see him waving at me, so i matched his pace at which point he pointed me out to the passenger and they both started waving and laughing at me as he nailed it!

so being the knob i am i don't like being laughed at or made to look like a prick i nailed it too edging along side him i looked across to see his laugh dry up a bit but i had a bit more in reserve so gave him a little wave of my own and passed him! after a little blat with him falling quite far back i slowed up to normal speed but he would come nowhere near me and slowed right up! guess he wasn't feeling so smug getting whipped by 'a crappy polo'

any of you had simular experiences?.........oh and apologies for the essay!

haha ollie you make me larf sumtyms mate

had same sorter thing but with two saxo vtrs

heading down dual carridway and two fairly nice saxo vtrs pulled up either side of me of course glancing an smirking now these saxos had inductions kits an exhaust systems an kits on where as my polo is bog standard apart for an air filter an suspension so.. at the lightts they went green i wudnt say i floore dit but i left the lights quicker then they could catch up an just saw lil lights in the distance lol

i think its funny watchin peoples faces when you have them in a polo

Sleepers FTW

Haha i shut up one of my friends, who was talking crap about my polo, after my engine swap saying "dude.. whats with the racing seat??? wheres your carpet and interior? come on..."

he really would always go on about the golf mk5 he was going to get (he never did), and basically thought it was the best car in the world.

a few days ago, he was with me and I had some guy in a pretty nice black Golf 5 gti with big bbs rims try and race me. some thug doosh-cake was revving his motor, so i just brushed the throttle to about 1200 rpm smiling at the guy.

friend next to me didnt really know what was happening but we left at the same time, and i left the gti by half a car length to 60mph :)

it shut my friend up, and i loved it. 8-)

but in contrast, you know what sucks??

when you see OLD people driving a 6n, in the same colour and body style as your own haha

It always happens around my area usually tending to be barry boy shitvics etc

First was a 1.6 civic coupe on the m40 doing about 80 past me and slowed down realising mine was subtly modded too. He was with a few mates and they were filming on their phones as if to show we were racing or something! Started messing about so I booted it with him obviously following in pursuit. He couldn't manage to keep up and after a lengthy gap I pulled into the middle lane and let him past. He didn't get the drift as kept pulling alongside. So eventually I put my foot down and undertook him from sitting side by side. Lets say he must've bottled out or got embarrased when I hit 130mph. Stupid thing to do but it riled me up big time so had to do it!

Another was a fully kitted out Civic VTEC Coupe at the lights with me in the bus lane. Music blaring out etc giving me dirty looks and revving his engine. So I thought if he boots it I will too, if not i'll drive as normal. He decided to boot it so I did too getting a cleaner start off the line. Lets just say before we met at the next set of lights I gained 1.5 car lengths and got infront in his lane. Stopped at the next junction and asked what I had under the hood which I replied with; "1.4 16v but its you that needs to learn how to drive". His cars much faster but some people think they could drive hard so take the biscuit!!!

Most of the time if i can be arsed.

Without bragging there is very little competition when you in a 330bhp car weighing less than a tonne

From 40 to 140 is a good crack

I get little boys trying to race me all the time.

I rarely play ball and will never in a built up area but I will prove a point on a wide country road, which are plentiful around here.

The funniest time I can remember was when I parked up somewhere, heard and saw some beastly chariot turn the car park to pull up next to me claiming that we had a good race, I had no idea I had even been in a race.

My car isn't fast in a straight line, it's not very good at launching and needs quite a few revs to get going. However, I haven't seen many low price cars that can carry the same speed through a corner. Some corners which even my old Scirocco would be sliding around, the MX5 can take without so much as a touch of the brakes.

younger kids are the worst, this morning a kid in a KA was tailgating me so badly through a singe carriage way C-road, i wasnt going to go any faster. if a car had been coming the other way and i hit the brakes theres no way he could have stopped. it turned into a wide 4 car width road and now i have the subframe naturally i dumped over his bonnet. then and this is the worst bit, i slowed down to come into a village and he's about a car length behind, road works with a red light, i hit the brakes again and the little shite locked his wheels ending up about 6inches from the bumper, had i not been late for work i'd have got out and told him what a prick he was!

not long after i first got my mk2 16v i was ragging it through the lanes on the way back from work, came to a junction and saw a silver evo in my mirror, as it comes up behind me i realize its my mate so pulled into a car park to see what he was up to, only for him to jump out bouncing around all exited like a penis asking what i had in it. turns out he'd been trying to catch me from just near the start of the lanes, he was gutted when i told him it was just a standard 1.8 16v. just shows that a good driver (not trying to sounds like a arrogant nob here btw) is a low spec car can be faster than a shit driver in a shit hot car.

that car really is fucking wasted on him tbh.

When I had my mk1 polo with a GT engine in I had L plates on and taught some old man in a mondeo a lesson at the lights. He tried to about 50mph then he got the lesson lol.

With the GTI i haven't had a decent go from the lights with anyone though :(

Well pissing over VTR's is nothing that exciting tbh, the vectra's. mondeos etc are good fun tho - I'm good up to 80-90mph then it takes abit to get to 110-120mph.

jokes 1 was just as I was driving home some people carrier jumped into my line without signaling and braked suddernly... my car had been broken into the day before & I was pissed off with not alot to do so spend a good 5 minutes behind the loser constantly hoooooorning with the dinky polo horn lool!! his family turned around looking like WTF hahaha

in the days of notts on a sunday night many moons ago i could eat evo's and scoobys no problem in my old mini

Mmm not had much shit since i bought the GTI, but the folk from work with all there new mondeo company cars try to take over me all the time and can't get past.

It's amazing how slow people think your car is when you take the GTI badges off (i know its not that quick but its a nippy little thing)

That is a lovely Mini.

i need to get my mini done.

I'm aiming for about the same power (probs a bit les tbh) just supercharged rather than turbocharged.

keeping it standard looking from outside minus wheels

ill shush now, i get rather excited when i start talking about it lmao!

as for embarrassing people. haven't had the chance to yet. more so me being embarrassed lol

I was driving my mates Rover 214Si on the weekend as he hasn't passed his test yet. Its a 5door and the dullest looking car ever sold.... but with 105bhp from its 16V k-series engine! Traffic light grand prix with a chav in a Saxo VTR with dust bin exhaust.... oh the laughter in that Rover :p

Mainly stuff like mondeo's trying to pass you... pussies.

Had a good few cains though, one of my faves against a bike changine down frantickly and me overtaking faster... lol

Actually once I was on the a629 east of Huddersfield coming into town before you get to Storthes Hall, I was tootling along with my mate in the car taking him for a spin in the new wheels. There's some people carrier doing 45/50 in the 50 road and I overtake it, then he just sits up my arse as I'm doing 60.

Dump it to 3rd and plant it doing near enough 100mph down this road, couldn't see him anymore! BTW this was my private runway!

I'd never do such a thing...

V6 pensioners saloons FTW

Those 105 bhp Rovers aren't slow... dunno what shape the one you were driving is, but the ones before the "MG ZR" shape, had the same engine, and were pretty damn rapid for a 1.4. 130 mph anyone?

all the time its great fun...mk4 golfs are my favourite. tdi ones...think they can have a polo..then braaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP POP braaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAP

i wave at some...lol

when i had my mk1 on the road with a 16v in it, standard looking ( badged as a driver with tipex writing) lol just seening all the knobs pulling up along side thinking bag of nails golf only to be left behind by an a reg!

one occasion i raced a 106 gti who when i got to the lights got out his car, knocked on my window to say fair play for an old car, i thought he was going to mug me!!!
