MK4 1.6CL - again - Polos

Well where to start? - may take some time.

I first owned a 1.6GL polo from roughly Jan time, i had a little accident on some ice and did quite a bit of damage to the front end of my poor polo. I first though about getting it fixed due to the large amount i had spent on it and the fact it had a full VW service history.

Decided instead to purchase a new polo (this one) with the same engine size and slowly go about transferring all my parts over too the new car, bar the engine. I completed most of this but then got bored of my polo and decided to sell it about 2 months ago, the car then developed a problem with the piston rings so i withdrew it form sale.

I've almost now got a slightly lower millage engine in the car which basically has a full VW service history up till about 5k ago, when its last service was. I'l now leave the story but please pm me for more details if required, pics of previous car are available, including the damage was nothing major that even touched the engine area.

Also so you know, this is a CL model and not the strangely high insurance GLX model which comes with the valver bumpers as standard.

The spec is as follows:

99 T plate VW Polo 1.6 CL

Clocks say roughly 97k, the new engine had 92,189 exactly before leaving its chassis. Within its life, the service book for that engine has 12 stamps, of which 11 were VW. The cam belt on this engine was changed at 72109.

New clutch being fitted too.

MOT - June 2009

The car flew threw the previous MOT with only the front tires as an advisory, these have now been changed.

As standard it has all the additional features you would expect:

Driver & Passenger Air bag - Currently has the glove box instead of the passenger airbag, but comes with both and either can be fitted for sale.

ABS - All working, no light on.

PAS

Electric Windows - One motor changed from previous polo, both now very speedy.

Electric Heated Mirrors

Sun Roof

Etc Etc

Along with the above, it has also had the following modifications:

Currently on some stiff lowering springs with standard dampeners, i did a long trip to Wales on the old engine with a bike rack on so didn’t want to risk the scrubbing, also supplied with FK springs and shocks.

Front and Rear 1 piece 16v Bumpers (from the sportier model)

Full mint 16v interior (Front and rear seats, all door cards and carpets)

16v 5 Spoke Alloys on 4 Federal tires

Professional front fog light conversion (included official wiring loom and standard VW light switch)

Cobra Cat1 alarm system featuring Full closure (Cheaper insurance too)

Original VW mud flaps

Has a full sound system installed including Kenwood 6x9s and component speakers (inc Alpine tweeters) wires for a 4 channel amp and sub are installed and completely hidden, done when fitting 16v carpets.

Also fitted a nice un-cracked centre console, that’s right not wobbly, not creaking and the head unit sits very sturdy!

The body of the car is in excellent condition with their no major signs of rust in the usual polo places although there is one dent on drivers sill which is only noticeable from ground level and some lacquer peel on the drivers door near the window seal. This is nothing major, just trying to point everything out to avoid any disappointment.

The car is cheap to insure, cheap to run (considering the obscene petrol prices) and very reliable, especially with the new engine.

Only problem i can think off at the moment are the brake pads being quite worn and the tracking is slightly out.

Car should be completed by tomorrow afternoon (Monday 22nd) and viewing is welcome at any point. I won’t be offended if you need too check any of my paperwork, its alot for me to state but any photos can be given if required.
