Changing Times....whats the next future Classic???

Featured Replies

I was thinking today.......IMHO the G40 is a bit of a classic in the world of Club Polo and indeed the VW world. Also look outside the Polo box & you have the Golf Rallye's, MK1 Golf Gti's etc etc that are not so often seen.

Again in my opinion these are getting rarer by the day and they hold a certain amount of prestige in the circles.

But are there any modern cars that are now getting older that could join the ranks of such joys???

The Polo 6n2 GTi seem to be getting harder to find & I read a post earlier about the new Polo GTi already being up for a change!!!!

Is there anything in 10years time that will equally be a joy to own & drive and is reasonable "rare"????

One thing for sure, modding cars will become more about software than harware I would have thought???

Awaits comments............

Lupo GTI.

Ok I'll give you that one!!!

;)

6n2 GTi no chance! It barely registers on the radar just now.

Lupo GTi for sure...Corrado VR6...

Can agree with the Mk4 R32 too I think.

Def. doesn't have to be about being rare...being sought after is more important. The G40 is rare as hens teeth when compared to other VW's but I don't think it'll ever be a classic to all but a select few.

g60 pissrat syncro the one at ed38 that was all black

Audi TT :D

VAG only or not?

There are quite a few possabilites.

Any R32

Mk7 Golf GTi probably will be, considering it is the return of the sporty Golf

Golf VR6

Corrado VR6 already is to some insurance companies

Lupo GTi

Honda S2000

Honda NSX

Skyline

RX7

Clio 197

Astra VXR

Focus RS

All potential future classics, of all of those I've listed (non VAG) I think the Clio 197 will be most likely to be a genuine classic with a similar status to the Clio Williams.

Corrado VR6 FTW. (Because I'm biased)

Lancia Delta Integrale, although that's probably a Classic already.

^^ classic already!

ek9 typeR?

VAG only really, but i do agree with you 8-)

Can't see the 197 Clio becoming a classic...? Not when everyone says the previous generation cars were better. Renault have done quite well with their hatches... 5 GT Turbo, Williams Clio...dunno what would come next though. The Trophy seems like a good choice but no one really seems to know too much about them?

Honda S2000 + NSX yes and yes. Don't think the EK9 is well enough known to be a classic and it wasn't available here either...Integra Type R though, possibility? Focus RS definitely! It's quirky enough and fast enough to make it an instant classic, the RS badge helps. Astra VXR not so much...

Merc E-Class Cosworth

saxo vts, 106 gti and 106 rallye will all become classics like the 205 gti and clio williams,

Punto GT :ninja:

Genuine classics are a dying breed, the establishment dont want them on their roads.

The car was the star for decades, but the 80s was the last one. They're no longer desirable when aged - they've turned into disposable goods, consumables, and they're all the same under the rapidly degrading over-recycled plastic cover.

Xantia, anyone? They were everywhere. Take a picture, its all that'll last.

Jetta GTi!!!!

I remeber an old copy of VW Driver where the Jetta went up against the Golf GTi and there was a mass debate about which handled the best, the Jetta with it's every so slightly longer wheel base and weight out the backend!!!!

MK 2 Polo Saloon with non-cat 78 hp NZ engine

The loop gti will be a future classic i feel, rare as hens teeth as it is. Possibly the new scirroco....
