Failed its MOT last year on:

Front brake pads,

CV boot,

Rear brake hose.

These were all done, along with the other rear brake hose and a brake fluid change and it passed with the following advisories:

Offside rear brake pipe slightly corroded,

Offside front shock absorber has a light misting of oil,

Offside rear wheel bearing has slight play,

Uneven wear on n/s/r tyre,

O/s and n/s front floor corroded,

Boot lock faulty (now fixed),

Offside outer track rod end joint cover split/missing,

Slight imbalance on front brakes.

I’ve just bought a replacement for this car, so no longer need it. I didn’t have the time to do the work it needs myself and I don’t think the car’s worth it to pay someone else to do it. The bearing is going to need doing asap as it’s making quite a noise now, along with the shock absorber (probably both fronts to be honest). There’s a bit of judder when braking to a stop that started recently (brake imbalance?) – will obviously need looking at. The rust holes in the floor are not structural and the MOT tester said they were unlikely to be for some years.

It’s pretty tatty, rust spots on bottom of doors, crusty front arch, tired interior with various things not working (recliners, etc) and wear to the drivers bolster. Oh and I haven’t cleaned it in the 2 and a half years I’ve had it!

The engine is good, I think last winter when it was really cold there were two occasions when it didn’t start first time, although it went second time. It had the head gasket and cambelt done a couple of years at about 114,000 miles. Gearbox is fine, although can be a little awkward into first sometimes.
