mk3 heaters arnt the best, and last year the heaters were pretty damn shocking.

just looking into 12v heaters available on the market...some on ebay e.t.c

are they actually any good for a tenner?

worth buying one for the hell of it?

would be pretty cool to set it going before you set off...engines not on...cars locked....toasty

I had a cheap one, it didn't really last long, but demisted the windscreen nicely. It didn't heat the car in the slightest though!

hmm......was thinking of a small nuclear reactor....should give off enough heat

tryed one and it was rubish, put an extra tenner in your car instead and give it some beans, heater will soon warm up! or maybe look into getting a heated seat kit, you can pick them up of ebay for reasonable money. another option is to change your seats. I fitted a set of vauxhall calibre seats, leather and heated all for £80 second hand

My heating is alright in the g, doesn't take 40 mins to get warm either. It must be g40's get abit hotter then n/a polos? as my mates g40's get nice and toasty inside too.

So sod the 12v heater, buy a g40! lol

something wrong with your heater! mine puts heat out like 1 minute after driving and if i have it on setting 1 and boot it the whole car gets so hot i have to open a window before suffocating.

Whats your average temp? Should be 90ish not 70 -80

try bleeding the matrix (little white cap on the heater in the scuttle tray) something definetly not reeeet

Sounds like the matrix is blocked, or have you checked to see if someone has removed the thermostat causing it to take longer to warm up? And i always put the heater direction half way between screen and feet, then you get heat out of top and bottom vents

i think it is matrix related tbh...just i know its a pain to fit like!

hahaa, thermostats fine e.t.c......i had the engine outa it, and rebuilt most of the ancillaries and replaced the odd part with new stuff, so am pretty sure its nowt to do with the engine lol.

Nah mate, matrix is a piece of piss to change. i did mine in 10 minutes its that easy. u dont have to take the heater box out or anything. just take out the ecu and it comes out easy

its pretty high up init, so surely i dont have to drail all the coolent?

Nah, should be fine. just clamp off the pipes, not much will come out anyway cos as u say, its the highest point really. And make sure its at operating temp when you bleed it, and the heating is switched to hot otherwise it wont bleed properly.

Seriously though, it is a really easy job to do, especially if you've had the engine out yourself etc. U will be more than capable lol

yeah dint think of crimping the pipes, and bled it plenty a time, so no probs there

theres 2 on gsf website, same part number apart from a "B" at the end of the mk3 one. and its 36 quid! compared to the other 21 pound one!

is the difference shape? or the temperature control valve sat on the mk3 one.

progress, you cant get the heater matrix out without removing the full job lot, which is a piece off piss to do.

i cleaned my matrix, was full of shite bits n general rubbish!, now it works a treat....i have heat!!
