I'm looking to buy 2002 and upwards model.what do you guys think? the only difference i really know are the headlights. 1.0 is too small and 1.4 i dont think i could afford insurance so 1.2 would be all good, anyone an idea how much it would be? under full UK license? already savin up for some 17's and coilovers or suspension kit :)

if you're after a 2002 onwards then it'll be a mk6 (sometimes referred to as a 9N on here).

you can't get 1.0 mk6's so 1.2 is the smallest engine you can get. these come in 6 or 12 valve (they're only 3 cylinders!)

for a decent one you're looking at about £3500 to £4000? correct me if i'm wrong guys!

insurance could be anything... depends on where you live and stuff like that.

Better of with a 6n2 IMO.

Look better, 1.0 with 4 cylinders, about a grand cheaper..

oo cool cool cheeeers for the advise. i reckon the insurance would be around 1400-1600 for a 1.2. I'm after either the one with the round headlights or the one with the new headlights similar to the golf's. could anyone clear up on what the name of the models are like MK1 MK4 Mk6 all this 9n M4f stuff? :)

Round headlights: Mk6 / 9n

Golf style lights: Mk7 / 9n3

lol i needed that, I've been tryin to find out for a while, gettin confused. are there much selection of coilover and suspension kits for them?

the best way to explain...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vw_polo

yes there are quite a few coilover kits and suspension kits available for these polos. it wouldnt hurt to look in the section of the forum called "Jackson Tuning" or PhilJ as he's known on here. he sells loads of different set ups for different model polos.

other than PhilJ, you can go to places like venom motorsport.

tbh, just google it.

I just bought a Polo 9N 1.2E from VW themselves for £3500. It has 44k on the clock, 02 plate and comes with a one year warranty.

Although I got a rather nice discount for trading in my Lupo Sport.

Since you want a VW with round headlights I could suggest a 1.0 Lupo however the Lupo's have always held a much higher value than the equivalent Polo being a rarer car.

If you're on a budget than you could look for the VW equivalents...VW Lupo = Seat Arosa, VW Polo = Seat Ibiza etc. I've always preferred VW's because of the badge but Seat's offer much more for your money.

thanks for the advice nick, ill have a look at the seat's altho i much prefer VW's (the reason I'm on this site) :)

I'm also 17 and i have a 6n2 which imo look better than the 2002. its a 1.4 8v mpi and i pay £1400 fully comp under my dad all mods listed. it has a k&n, lowered 60mm 16" aftermarket alloys, stereo + sub etc.. hope this helps.

good luck finding your car :)

your cars real nice, but i just prefer the Mk6 and Mk7 lol

I paid £1600 fully comp on my 2003 1.2 when i was 17.

yea dats pretty good

all mods declared too :)

Which insurance company was that with, panda?

i think mk5 is the best looking polo :D

17's and coilovers?! WTF man! thats bad... very bad.. you'll need good arch work.

i've checked insurance for me as 18yo for polo mk3 GT, and it was £1300 with all the mods i want to do to it.
