Hi there guys i remember there been a big topic ages ago about Gting a 1l but can't find it ! iv got a mechaic coming round this week to fit a gt head and cam to my 1l but was wondering what else can be used from a 1.3 ? dizzy ? etc etc .... already got a 1.3 inlet with 1.3 tb and kept 1.0 injector ! anything else i can get done while hes here ?

all mk3 heads are the same minus the cam so there's no need to remove the head...

you could convert to GT mpi injection- you would need;

GT ECU

GT engine bay loom

GT throttlebody

GT Inlet manifold

GT Cam

GT/NZ thermo housing

GT 3 speed fan

Airbox, AFM and ancillaries

and g40 heads have different exhaust valves.... :) .... just to rub salt in.

1 litre GT seems kind of poiintless to me, just put the whole gt engine in, easier and quicker!

Ask what the capacity of the '60s Austin/Morris Cooper S was,and most will say 1275cc. But the most successful one in rallying was the 1071cc version - and the most sought after is still the 970 S.

There is much to be said for a short stroke,and the 1050 Polo block has just such a crankshaft.

There's a strong argument for a tuned 1050,though a quad-choke fuelled version would be best,and in a MK1.

Hmm well its not about whats easier or whatever ! its something to keep me busy basicly ! and like said above i read abit about the short stroke mini so made me decide id have abit off a go at it and see what gains i get ! all goood fun guys :-D the mechanics comign round tomoz to give me a hand with all the timing up etc.... just thought id see what else i can do to her while I'm experimenting

now i travel to uni and back i had been think about a 1043mpi engine, with either 3f or NZ management, possible remap for 50+mpg.

that or an engine conversion from the later Mk4/5 using the <1000cc Mpi engine and management, wasnt sure on what the block were like for mountings and ease of transfer.

it didnt really go to far far because the cost of building it would far outweigh the savings, considering i'm trying to use the car as little as possible.

O well my car gets done on friday so ill post something about how it goes here and see about gettin it rolling roaded ! mines not gona be multipoint by the way ! its Gt head & cam with 1.3 inlet with 1.4 golf tb and normal 1.0 injector then basicly soldering chip out of a 1.3 ecu into my 1l one :-D ooo yeah and 1.3 dizzy for better spark but not sure this will make any diff as think part numbers seem to be the same on 1l and 1.3 !

Hmm the thing is u cant plug the 1.3 ecu into the 1l socket lol its completely diff and alot smaller !

I'll be doing the GT injection on to a 1043 in the next couple of weeks if anyone is intersted - hopefully in time for the no-rice rolling road day on the 8th of november.
