thats the piont, rather just stick with a carb motor to be honest coz its only gonna be a daily, good thought with the coupe s motor, but surely they are a bit hard to get hold of ? doesnt help that I've been drivin around in golf gti's for the past coupe of years so anythin is gonna feel slow!

you could go for a Gt engine they go straight in! few people use an early mk3 golf 1.4 bottom end (ABD) which has more tourqe than the Gt

yeh might be a bit harder to find but.....if you potter around in the 1.0l until you find the rite engine (either on here, polo3.co.uk, or a scrapyard or somewhere)

then you'll enjoy it more when it's in, surely?!?!

p.s slow n low is the price you pay to look good 8-)8-)

1.4 ABD is the easy way forward. Found in MK3 Golfs. Everything bolts straight up except the fuel pump - you'll need an inline electric one.

is that what you have in yours?

can you get pics of it in, i wouldnt mind that tbh :-D

I did have, yeah. Didnt get a good picture though - but it looks identical to a MK2f 1.3i engine.

Coupe S engine is just a normal carb 1.3

I've got a couple of complete ones if anyone is needing... One with 51k miles and one with 84k.

ABD block using mk2 head and weber carb?

what i'll be running soon, with a GK inlet, at uni currently so should be going in over xmas, if you were going to that effort you'd want to uprate the cam which means electric fuel pump, so you may aswell used the ABD head as it has no fuel pump outlet.

Swapping the 1l to the 1.3 is fairly easy (piss easy if you have done this thing before). I have just done this as my first engine swap this weekend.

It helped that i had both cars to hand. In the end we ended up swapping the complete engine wiring looms over as there was a few differences between the wiring dispite both of them being G plates.

Although it isn't quite running yet and i don't know why :-( just need to double check a few things. We think it is either a simple wire on the starter in the wrong place or dist related as the donor engine had been sitting for a good while.

No difference between a Coupe S engine and any other 1.3 VW engine of the era.

If you can, get a HK (marked out by the 8 stud rocker cover fixing, as opposed the 3 stud) as they're very rev-happy. Also worth looking iin 1.3 Golfs.

I used to have a HK engine, but i weighed it in.

Me too! oops

How about.. 1.6 AEE block,HK head and cam, with the cam drilled to take the electronic dizzy?

One for Gaz,me thinks.
