Featured Replies

Picked this up last night from Dan a.k.a Mk3saloon, and thought id share...

Its a mk3 coupe catalyst 1.3 SPI with 109k on the clock.

Anyway, this is to be a long term project and a major learning curve...

Dan

Cheers Dan, if i can make her half as stunning as your loon ill be happy! (but with a bit more GO than your 1 litre) :-p

I'm not sure on the interior strip, its in such good condition it seems a shame!

First Question: Are there any other dashes that fit the mk3 that would update the looks slightly and work better with the 16v loom?

its bloody clean and streight dude, great base for a project.

with regards the question i say go out and measure other cars dashes.... try soemthing abit differant, for example ford ka and new mini dashes have been fitted in minis without too much work, see what you can do ;)

sounds like a cool project. 1st car on the dashboard list to check would be a lupo dash imo

Looks pretty clean damn, I agree would be a shame to rip out a interior in as good a nick as that

Should be a rocket, I don't mind helping out if you need any, gimme a shout!

Spent tonight drinking with friends and discussing potential problems with the conversion, touble is my main mechanically minded friend only knows vauxhalls (booo!!)

Issues raised:

a) Engine Mounts

b) Wiring loom

c) Drive shafts

d) Speedo/rev counter

e) Throttle / Gear linkages

f) Imobiliser

g) ECU / Fuel management

h) Wether its worth buying a whole Mk4 16v (write off with engine intact) for a donor car or buying items seperatly

(so... not much then!)

Either way i intend to take a LOT of pictures once things are underway!

would have thought buying the complete part would be the most cost effective to be honest, then you are not hunting round for certain parts!

least you know you have as much s you can possibly need bar aftermarket parts by having a complete donor car!

i have seen a breaker 16v last yr go for 300 sheets ;)

Ah you are still alive then Dan, not slipped into a drink / drug endused student coma then?

Bugger the looks, sort the power out and the rest will follow! No point me having a pretty car that doesnt go anywhere now is there?!

As for a donor car I'm in hot pursuit! :-D

mate if you are car will get noticed and appreciated even if its slow, then when u do have an afh, open up the bonnet or even put you are foot down and people wont just appreciate it, they will fckin luv it :)
