Woop woop!

Due to a minor miscalculation on my part it turns out that the fuel pump i ordered is not actually a fuel pump...more of a filter...

Anywho, trial and error and all that jazz! (told you i was a noob and that this was a major learning curve) (although in my defence the egay description was pants and the picture worse)

Clutch and cambelt being done tonight or tomorrow night and i still need to do a bit more work on the engine mount before it will fit.

Looking good man, i got my carbs through spares unlimited too, seem like a good shop! Look forward to seeing progress with this

Dammit, they're like another 25 quid lol!

Clutch etc was ment to be being changed today but things didnt go to plan, it would appear my mechanic doesnt like workig in my dark little shed lol! So engine has now moved to a more suitable place to work on it and should be back with me in a few days along with an engine crane so it can go in!

Need to get onto Bogg Bros soon as it takes like 10 weeks to get the manifold back. At Least i can be buying other parts whilst thats away. (shiny shiny oil catch tank mmm)

Still need some VW11 brakes if anyone has any lying around (at cast-off golf prices, not scene taxed polo prices)

Away for the weekend in Shell Island so things will have to wait till after then!

Problem hopefully solved! Need a very late spec mark 3 starter motor which was slightly smaller than those prior to it!

chris with a mk1 golf afh engine with an 8p box fitted a mk4 fly and mk3 clutch with mk4 starter as its slimmer, the mk4 flywheel wouldnt engage so he had to take it apart again and fit a mk3 fly!

Appologies for the lack of pictures / decent pictures lately, my parents took my favorite camera on holiday!

Starter motor:

Left - MK4 - Correct size body but shaft diameter too wide and not enough reach so starter wont engage the mk3 flywheel

Middle - Original MK3 - Correct size shaft and reach but body of starter too big so wont fit against the engine block

Right - 1994 MK3 Starter - Smaller body so will fit against the engine block and has the correct reach and shaft size - Sorted!

Starter now painted but haven't got a pic of that.

Engine mount is finished and painted up also

Ordered this too

Oh and started on this last night

Nowhere near finished but had to stop after a few hours though because I got a blister

Anyone have any idea how to get at all the fiddly bits?!

i used a little wire brush on a drill mate to get the corner on my rocker cover, you are car is commin on nicely

very good dan if you need some extra fine paper i got some, what colour do people think the letters on the cover should be? i suggested green as the cars is green........

wikid mate, i shall pop round and lend a hand then, was good to see you again at the weekend, and the letters should be the same colour of the car on the 16v but the dohc black

Way ahead of you guys, I already have the paint for the letters, same colour as the car. Quite like the idea of the DOHC in black and the 16v in green, good call dan. Hopefully see you in the next few days then?
