Yes yes, recovering from my hangover saturday morning then fitting the (brand) new fuel tank which has had 2 coats of POR15 (lets see that ba****d rust now!!)

Then off over to doms to pick up the GT axel and rear lights then fitting new drums and shoes and that will be the back end finished allthough i still need a few brake parts and new bushes so that much have to wait a few days.

Still got the (show) cage to fit and bolt in (might paint it black yet)

Then I've got to have the subframe and sump back off to fit my winadge tray in the sump. and whilst thats off fitt the stainless exhaust manifold

and hopefully by the time thats done saf will be sending my stainless inlet manifold :-D

So yeh, busy times!

Hows the polo, still poorly?

Shiny new tank painted in anti rust stuff :-)

20052010467.jpg

Quick question, why has my replacement tank not got a little flap inside the filler neck like my orignial one?

20052010469.jpg

hey mate looking gd

just wondering how did u fix the bottom left harness strap down ? drill a hole and then bolt it up or is it bolted to the seat rail ?

have u got any pics ?

cheers :)

finally had a chance to read through this thread lol, this is going to be fucking tidy motor whens she's done. credit to you mate

I've not a bleeding clue why, but that cat is now named volcano cat.

Saturday, if i see it i shall see how it reacts to its new nickname

Tank looks almost sexual! How easy was it to get out? mines gotta come out when i swap the beam. Needs a good pasting with hammerite.

Its odd how strange the garden looks without the canopy thing.

See you sat dude!

Getting that rocker cover off Mr McLovin at 12, so should be round for 1 ish to get u.

Why volcano cat??

Tanks a bitch to get off, and we need to allow a decent ammount of time to take the beam off doms, mainly because of the brake lines, mine were sooo stuck!

Really don't know why. Its the 1st thing that came to mind.

Maybe the colour triggered it, as i imagine volcanic ash to be the colour of that cat.

Sweet, you can help get mine off then

Will be doing everything at once with this engine swap. Few delays with getting it swapped, i shall explain why when i see you though. Its all good reasons.

Thankyou, and credit to you sorting that wiring out!! Say hi to toby for me on saturday

i couldn't of sorted it without the help of the good people of club polo tbh, 3 days of confusion, stress and at one point i think i sunk into a bit of depression (plus i actually had a nightmare about it ) all because of a blown relay... proper face/palm moment

i will say hi to toby for you mate, have you had any joy with those 'you know whats'? :unibrow:

Few piccys of the work over the last week:

Pressing in new bearings..note hammer lol

05062010568.jpg

New bearings in, lots of lithium based grease!

05062010569.jpg

New cylinders, and shoes

05062010570.jpg

05062010571.jpg

05062010572.jpg

05062010573.jpg

And new drums and hub spacers :-D

05062010575.jpg

Finally new brake lines

09062010586.jpg

The brakets which the flexi brake lines and the copper ones connect through were missing off the GT beam so I out came the grinder and I whipped them off the old axel and had them welded onto the GT beam at work! (no pics unfortunatly and its raining so I'm not taking any now) I'll take some once they're all painted up like the rest of the beam.

Also been working on the fueling side of things

09062010587.jpg

09062010588.jpg

Still undecided whether to use a t-piece method or the fuel regulator I have

Almost forgot, new bushes and bolts!

31052010556.jpg

Oh and a shot of the new company vehical, not that they'll let me drive it :-(

21052010495.jpg

Oh and one of me wearing a carnies tophat...because I was drunk and because I can.

30052010546.jpg

Looking gooood!

How easy where them bearings to fit?

And how much did all the new springs set you back? Guessing you got um from VW?

I'm gunna do exactly what you have done here and build it all up off the car. Then all ill need to do is connect handbrake cable and brake lines :)

lol @ the bottom pic.
