chris with a mk1 golf afh engine with an 8p box fitted a mk4 fly and mk3 clutch with mk4 starter as its slimmer, the mk4 flywheel wouldnt engage so he had to take it apart again and fit a mk3 fly! g

Few pics from an awsome weekend at BVF, first time i've done any real distance in the car and apart from a few issues on the way back (air leak on manifold and rear tyres scrubbing on arch when accelerating around a corner) she was very well behaved :-D

I think next on the shopping list is a H&R cup kit and some cams and verniers

I think next on the shopping list is to use the bloody thing..

Fixed!

Ahhh thanks for correcting that error dude!

Suspension definitely could be improved though, i think it handled better with the weight of the camping gear in the back, and was also quieter!

Great news man, looks great. I'm glad the engine was a good un! Makes me wish I could of dropped it in mine now.

The budget suspension does get pretty annoying , especially on sheffield roads!

Just wish i could afford a H&R kit!

DAN!!! Get your ass down here, i demand a spin in this beast.

And get coilovers, you know its right.

Looks the fucking sex tbf, sits perfect. Love the 16v badge too.

Max, you know that that badge is right too ;)

Amazing thread. Thank you.

A few questions if you don't mind me asking as I don't know much about cars as you guys.

1) These bike carbs? I mean when I hear a car zooming past me that sounds like a motorbike. They have got bike carbs installed as thier inlet manifold , correct?

2) Final question is , did you grind the exhaust ports so they match up with the outlet manifold? (head porting & polishing)

Adding bikes carbs doesn't not make it sound like a bike! :) You need a purpose made inlet manifold for the engine/carbs you are using

the exhaust ports should not fully match the exhaust manifold. The exhaust mainifold should be slightly bigger than the head ports as this provides a small step which reduces pressure pulses flow backwards. Not 100% sure on what it actually means but in every book I have read on the subject they all say the same. How ever just polishing the exhaust ports can help in reducing carbon build up.
