Yes its the Gti Bottom end, the engine didnt have bent valves when I picked it up, i bent them turning it over on the starter. However when i brought it, it had apparently been running fine 2 days prior to me picking it up, they were taking it out when i arrived. So somewhere between then and me putting it in the mk3 the inlet cam timing went... which is odd because nothing i did would have changed that.

Stupid me for thinking an engine I buy that was running 2 days prior would still be timed up fine.

If anyone needs a spare AFH by the way let me know, i have an 80k engine and about 4 inlets, ecus, looms, throttle bodies, flywheels, starters, most interior parts from a mk3 and mk4 polo and probably enough parts to build another 3 cars lying around and all up for sale :-D

Just strengthens the mount and stops it twisting.

fyi the plate behind the mount does strengthen, but I've run my 16v for 7k miles so far with just the two bolts... pretty sure they're not going to break

running mine without the plate too and its fine
