chris with a mk1 golf afh engine with an 8p box fitted a mk4 fly and mk3 clutch with mk4 starter as its slimmer, the mk4 flywheel wouldnt engage so he had to take it apart again and fit a mk3 fly! g

rolling roads are weird though, in my experience they change their minds depending on the weather/wind direction/atmospheric pressure etc etc.

Don't get me wrong that's pretty bloody good for 2 totally different sets of rollers on different days.

Rollers ain't all they're cracked up to be, people with decked cars with mad driveshaft angles will lose power

In that case mine must be more than 137bhp

Don't they take that into account when it works out the drive chain losses tho?

God knows I'm just trying to fool myself into thinking my cars ok really hahaha.

Not updated this in quite a while, not that anythings happened really! I brought a 320d E46 and since then the polo's been sat on the drive doing nothing!

Plans for the polo are to buy a trailer(beamer to tow it), put her on a serious diet, brace the hell out of her and take her to track days :-D

Pic of the beamer tho the wheels have changed now

Before you do any of that actually take the thing on a track day! It will make you realise what its flaws are and whet you need to do with it!

Its either that or Hill climb - which I quite like the sound of but need to know more about the regulations/spec etc

The engine might be the problem for the hill climb as its out of a different model of polo. I've sort of looked into it hence the black polo is using a GT engine :)

But Shelsley Walsh do a Hill Climb School which I've always fancied doing! If you are up for it! :)

Hi, nice build going on here, looks like your passenger door is a different colour to the rest of the car in the first pic? :D

you can still go hillclimbing, but i think you fall into sports libre category because as you say its not a factory fit or optional engine.

which should be fine given that awards are given on engine size classification

For fear of ridicule, currently working through this conversion.

How do I get this nut off to change the pulley? I have the T50 torx bit but its what to use for the nut? Tried a swan neck spanner but doesnt fit inside the wheel. Only thing I can think of is welding a cheap 24mm socket to a big ring spanner so torx bit can go through socket.

Tips most welcome

Impact driver on nut with pulley wrapped in an old belt firmly pinched in a vice.

3/4" drive 24mm socket held with some big old mole grips. Get you torx on an extension through the socket.
