chris with a mk1 golf afh engine with an 8p box fitted a mk4 fly and mk3 clutch with mk4 starter as its slimmer, the mk4 flywheel wouldnt engage so he had to take it apart again and fit a mk3 fly! g

SPoke to Bogg Brothers yesterday about running a 1.4 16v on bike carbs, they said the most suitable ones to use are either R6 or Fireblade carbs. I also spoke about inlet manifolds, i mensioned that there is going to be a limited amount of room beetween the head and the bulkhead and aparently the length of the tubes to the carbs is not critical unless your engine has been internally tuned (forged internals, Knife edged crank, cams and lightened flywheel ect) so i thinck a home brew manifold is going to be made for my project. Altho they did mention that if you send them an inlet manifold gasket and dimensions of the room you have along with your engine code and carbs they can make a manifold and re-jet and set the carbs up as best they can for about £285. As for ignition he just Said vacume advanced distributer ect.

Hope this helps, Moza

Love the Coupe!

I'm wanting to put the arches on an'all; let us know how it goes. reckon it'll be easy to fit?

& what alloys you got?

Proper beaut.

Cheers.

Yeh i need to get hold of some saloon arches as they dont have the cut out for the bumpstrips. I've got some gt ones but they have been run with 15" alloys so they are a bit nackered! Aprarently it doesnt matter what model mk3 you have, they all can accomodate the arches

looking clean dude. I dont know much about vag engines to be honest so i cant help out with any tips or anything unfortunatly  Wish i could do something like this :-(

Cheers mate, you'd be supprised how little i know lol

looking good :)

Cheers dude :-)

Thanks, what are those wheels you have fitted? Really like them; expensive?

They are made by rial, not sure on the model name though, think they came on old BMW's

did you actually get some hammerite then?

Yer i thinck i am going to ring Bogg Brothers up and have a speak to them about it. I am realy tempted by bike carbs personally, Nice tidy engine bay too. The only problem i can thinck of is getting a suitable vac advanced distributer, not sure if one of a carbed polo will fit being older engines ect. I will get in contact and post up what they say about it.

Moza

You want the ignition system from a mk2 Coupe S, the coil, distributor and module.

Thats what heg123 is running his 16v with.

Project looks good, will look forward to seeing the outcome :)

Lookin good man, if it comes out anything like that photoshop it'll look sweet :D

Decided I'm going to use this engine because its on less than 50k, ordering new clutch, cambelt and waterpump anyway.

Well cambelt and water pump can be changed this month but I'm not sure funds will allow the clutch until beginning of next month, but the mount should be done by then so it can go in after that. Plenty of time for cleaning and polishing before it goes in

Excited :-D
