Wahey! Looking good there Mr.B :-D

Cool...

Is going to be so much fun when its done!! :-D

Ooh,didn't see this 8-)

I used a late type 70A alternator (mine's a 1.6,so i needed a bigger battery) and a little billet steel engine mount adaptor instead of a plate but otherwise its all the same.

My alternator belt only clears the ARB mount because i shifted the engine across 5mm (also to get the 6n box to fit),and I've turned the dizzy upside down to use vac advance. Oh,and used the MK2 throttle cable - i just cut the ball off,but left most of the crimped part on,and that's sufficient.

Still,

it looks like you're doing just fine..

Oh,and clear indicators all day long.

As for the Audi grille, the car is derived from, and based on,an Audi. That Audi replaced the NSU Prinz. But it was too upmarket so it was badge-engineered and sold as a VW. But not alot of people know that, and this Coupe is about to be even more of a VW - so I'm for clear indicators, standard grille, black VW badge to represent the sports bods behind the engine, and maybe a suitable 16v badge to the side.

ooh nice cant wait to see this done! will have a drag race with you when iv done ym AEE, fuly aware you will have 110bhp from a standard engine lol should be fun though

Picking up these beauties some time next week, think I'm going witha stripped out and carpeted rear.

Picking up a new clutch next week too, then once that and the cambelt/waterpump are fitted its just the mount I'm waiting on and the engine can go in!

Bagsey helping mount the engine!

Looks to be coming along nicely Dan :-D

Wicked project, you going to be running bike carbs then? I'm intrigued, I've been planning some for a while now but will probably start collecting bits and then messing in a few months time I reckon.

Nice choice on the seats! I saw them, bargain!

i used yamaha fazer 600 carbs on my AFH. Also used 8p box.. ITt goes like fook tbh mate. I,m still impressed with its performance.

BTW your polo looks very tidy.

^^^ One of my inspirations from the start! Any reason you didnt go for a stainless manifold spen?

Definitely drool-worthy that MK1 is...

What ignition set up are you using with that spen?

Woop, I have my engine mount back! Its beastly, 6-7mm steel plate, perfectly machined, just need to drill some holes and we're good to go!

Also stripped and painted a load of parts including radiator housing, fan and alternator.

Seats and clutch thursday :-)

The set up in that mark one is sweet, I'm trying to turn my dad to the idea for his caddy.

Is it me or does it look like theres a crack in the manifold?

Yeh theres a crack in the manifold there on every single 16v I've ever seen! Stainless FTW

It's an expansion joint, as the manifold heats up, it will expand, the crack there is to give it enough room to move without shearing all the studs off in the head

Wouldnt it have made more sense to put it in the middle then?

technically yes but then it wouldnt be a vw ahaha, suppose it should but doesnt really matter

Didnt really want a 4 branch on this one as I'm quite happy with its sound and performance.

" Sentral " I used a mk2 polo tci ignition setup.

The gap in the middle is too small... It makes more sense where it is to me
