Check out www.caraudiodirect.com

an alpine one!!

wouldn't use anything else

and i have ipod :), full speed, so it charges as well as reading the music from the base of the ipod

Do you have to have the proper i-Pod specific headunit to be able to browse your library on the headunit?

I've had usb where you control it through the headunit, but all you can do is skip back and forth,

then aux imput where you use the ipod like normal, but it doesnt sound very good....

yeah thats usb...dont think its possible through AUX in tho.....

but yes...my headunit is ipod specific. comes with a control box that plugs in the disk changer socket on the back

Aux just plays the signal through the head, so it sounds kinda sketchy..

I want to go through the menus like you would normally, but on the headunit's screen

yeah aux in sounds pants

you want what av got then...or a new version...ipod compatible stereo....need a ipod tho haha

but, you can scroll thought the playlists n genre's e.t.c

Ai thats what i need, I've got a 4 gig Nano, through USB but all i can do is skip tracks, so with 800 odd tracks it can be a bit annoying!

Was looking at the ipod specific ones and theres a few under 100 quid now, and all the adaptor is inside, with just a lead to connect it to.

think mine was bout 150 quid...2 years ago haha!

control box is behind the dash, and the lead for ipod pokes out in one of the cubby holes...plug in and leave it....

I'm looking at a Kenwood or Pioneer on caraudiodirect for £120.. need to sell both of my cd players first though

pioneer!..kenwoods are pretty poop imo

Cheers for the advice, theres an alpine for like same price without a cd mechanism :s

oh yeah, alpine do ipod only stereo's now...fitted one in a mk5 golf gti a while back, looked stunning!

I saw that one but wasnt sure whether its proper iPod control or just USB connection..

i was thinking about getting this one????

Thats a good one i've got it in my car and the sound quality is very good. And I haven't noticed any glitches or problems when using my i-pod with the connector

I don't think you can scroll through your I-pods music library using the headunit controls though. Well I haven't worked out how to yet if you can

I bought this one from Amazon's sub company who deal with Audio. And put it in my last Polo worked really well and was simple to program and again the I-pod adaption was good quality and there was no distortion. You can also get it with Green illuminations to match the Polo dials lighting which at night looked pretty cool :-D

Roly with that Pioneer you've got, do you just plug the iPod in and skip back and forward through the tracks?

whats your budgit?

whats your budgit?

If you've got a few quid....

....get one of these.

That isnt one of those with no CD drive is it?

Alpine all the way I've got one for my next polo wean that happends

I've got one of the Sony GT-710's Its a pretty good unit for £100! If you have more £££ than that then an Alpine definately!

my mate has one of the alpines above, which is ok, but as said no cd drive which sucks imo,

my bro got another alpine with the control of ipod an cd drive which imo is alot better :)

I've got a Pioneer DEH-6000UB which I bought from car audio direct and I couldn't be more happier. User connection at the rear of the unit means (using the supplied cable) you can wire it through the back of the cubby hole thing at the bottom of the 6n dash and when you want to connect you ipod simple plug it in in that pocket. All onscreen controls too, so theres not faffing about with fiddling with the ipod you simple plug it in and its all on the 2 line screen. Its a nifty head unit, £120 I think I paid!
